Poll: How many book would you estimate to have read?

Probably thousands.

When I was around 11, I lived three blocks from the city library. There were times when I had over twenty books out at once. I was reading the full newspaper at 8 (Asked my mom what a "g-string" was after reading it in a column. 😀), & at 12 or 13 I was reading Clancy, Chrichton, Grisham, & Stephen Coonts.

[EDIT]I can't spell today either. Or maybe I just can't type...[/EDIT]

What poll?

Yeah I would say thousands as a kid. And I used to could spell before the internet I promise.

$5, that's a good question.

I would say in upwards of 60,000 ... and thats probably a low estimate ... I read like a crazy person .. its my second favorite activity <EG>... I can read a 400 page book in about 2 hours (depending on how much I like the book and if people leave me alone)... and if you dont believe me ... e_mc_2 can vouch for me that we have paperback books scattered around the house and we got rid of no telling how many boxes of them when we move ... I know I've gotten rid of atleast 45,000 of them since I was sixteen .. that doesnt even equate all the library books ... I cant afford to buy books full price because of my habit I get them at yardsales or used books stores .. only if one of my favorite authors or some of my friends from the RWA have a new book out will i pay full price.

Thousands of books. I got an award in fourth grade for reading over 20,000 pages worth. I'm currently reading Kierkegaard's Concept of Irony.

well lets see, i've been reading regular novels since i was 10-11, and i'm 15 now, so i'd say a good 500 if not more. i have 4 in my room which i will get too as soon as i finish the one i'm reading now, and i hae another 4-5 to pick up next time i go to the store 🙂

KingHam, Reading is such a joy, and when you get one of those awards all it does it make it even better. Although I don't read as many printed books, I wish I had more time to do just that. Most of the ones I do read are collected references or on tha net. So many possiblities! So little time... Concept of Irony sounds like a book I would pick and read. I fill my head with so much junk reads nowadays it's not healthy ya know.

It's hard to say. I've been reading since I was about 5 or so. During elementary school, I read at least 4 books a week. Around 3rd grade I was reading Asimov and Piers Anthony. I'm only 23, so my guess is approximately 2500 books.

I cannot even begin to count the number of books I have read. I am a speed reader, and go through them like candy. I had a college reading level in the third grade, and would steal all my moms horror books. To this day, there is nothing like curling up with a good book.

<< I am a speed reader >>

GF, what's that all about (what's that like).

Do you skim the pages, or just read really fast? I've always been fascinated by that sort of thing

sweet_Robin, Exactly how does a crazy person read differently than say a non-crazy person, I am interested in knowing?

IBHacknU: It's hard to explain. I guess I do skim the pages, and am able to pick out the vital bits of information from them. You would not believe all the times I have been accused of cheating by teachers, who insisted that I simply could not have read the books that fast. But when I handed them a book report an hour later, they usually shut up. 😉

GirlFriday ... me too ... I have had the same thing happen to me ... I dont know how I do it either ... its not something I tried to learn .. just something I am naturally good at .. I think I have read as many as 7 books in one saterday .. just for fun ... guess thats what I mean I read like a crazy person ... I love it ...

Difficult question.

Hmmm.

Well, during my mother's first trimester I digested the Library of Congress. During the second trimester I memorized the entire extant contents of the Alexandria Library and the Biblioteque Nationale de Paris. During her third trimester I wrote 500 best selling novels.

Unfortunately, the rigors of birth ruined me and I haven't read a thing since. 😛

I haven't a clue, but I know the volume of my serious reading has declined significantly since I discovered OT.

I think I have read about a good 100 books in all my life. I really wished I had more time to read more, but a lot of things get in the way: College, Work. But when I can I read

Reading is Knowledge
