yeah i'm a big pumpkins fan, and our guitars sound kinda like them. hopefully people would see it as homage rather than ripping off.

I think unless you're a cover band, using one of their song's titles isn't a good idea. Typically that seems to be the only time another band's song title is used as a name.

I take it your music has a somber feel to it, based on the choices you have up?

I'm a fan of the pumpkins too...I went to one of their last shows in Montreal a few years back. I didn't like a lot of the stuff off their last album though. Zwan is pretty good.

godsmack did well (they took their name from an alice in chains song, and they sound a lot like alice in chains), but i agree that it's kinda the easy way out.

our music actually sounds kind of upbeat but the lyrics are somber. we do have some mean-sounding song, but not on the website.

i would stay away from "soma"
im pretty sure its taken, it stinks as a name and then people might expect of you more than you can deliver.
also: isnt avail a band already?

The best band names are random odd words combined with 'fish'...something like 'Binkfish' or 'Thrillfish' or 'Bloodfish' or 'Thom and the Manfish'. Trust me on this one...you gotta have fish in it!!!

funny you should say that, My friend is in a local band called "Goldfish don't bounce," and they are getting pretty hot...maybe you should look into that...
