I've been playing an alternative rock band for a while. To make a long story short, we found out another band trademarked our name (and since we know we aren't the first band to use it anyway, we don't really have a leg to stand on to challenge it. let the other two bands duke it out). so we need a new name!

the poll has some names we've been tossing around. pick your fav, or pick "other" and suggest a different one. 🙂

edit: for some songs, go here: link to several MP3's. They are just demo quality.

edit 2: had to remove "soma" and "avail" because the names are taken.
 
The best band names are random odd words combined with 'fish'...something like 'Binkfish' or 'Thrillfish' or 'Bloodfish' or 'Thom and the Manfish'. Trust me on this one...you gotta have fish in it!!!
 
i'm not really digging any of the 'the ______' names.

i've always wanted to see a band called 'donna martin graduates!' but maybe that's just me.
 
What kind of music do you play? What's the general mood?

You could always steal my friends old band name, they never got off the ground.

I chose soma since it was the only word I didn't know. Upon looking it up though, I realized it's an awesome choice.

Id stay away from Avail, theres a fairly popular band with that name already who has been around for some time (www.availavail.com) and are opening for The Bouncing Souls this tour. Would hate to see you change names just to have to again.

Yeah, Pumpkins fan will recognize Soma as a rip off/homege to them. I would choose something else unless your band actually sounds like the pumpkins.

yeah i'm a big pumpkins fan, and our guitars sound kinda like them. hopefully people would see it as homage rather than ripping off.
