As a 4 year old I stuffed some gum and chocolate at the local grocery store down my pants. I got home, and didn't know what to do. I told my Mom I found a piece of gum on the neighbor's driveway, can I have it? She said it would be alright, so I went ahead and ate one piece, and tossed the rest in the garbage. She busted my ass, and made me go back to the store, find the manager and apologize. I remember very clearly the whole affair, and that was 28 years ago

During HS I think the worst I did was steal a pair of shoes that were left in the locker room.

I stole gum from a grocery store when I was little. Eventually I got caught and was banned from said store. Returned the next day.

Lifted a wallet in my early teens.

She said you could eat gum you found in the drive way?

Only a few things. As a gradeschooler, I stole some dirty jokebooks... Didn't feel too bad about that. Then I stole a computer game from Target. I was sweating bullets as I walked out the store. I don't know HOW someone didn't catch me when I was looking THAT suspicious. I felt like crap and swore that I'd never do that again.

Didn't steal anything for a long time. Then towards the end of high school, a buddy and I saw a radar detector in a convertable with the top down in a mall parking lot. We grabbed it, and I DID feel guilty. Right after, we went out to eat. When we got out, someone had tossed a brick through our car window and stole it. Karmic payback....

That ended our thieving careers.

When I worked in the photo lab at Eckerds, I would take home the batteries from the disposable cameras..we were supposed to send those off for recycling, of which Eckerds would get credit towards paper for the photo machine.

At my internship I used some fax machine long distance, printing and envelopes for personal usage, it was never said whether this was permitted..does this count?

Does a piece of construction paper from the public library count?

I stole something from Hobby Town once and still feel terrible about it. I think it was 6 dollars and I could definitely have paid for it as I was around 16 years old. It was a glow plug igniter for my remote control car. It was red, took a D battery, and made out of anodized aluminum. Basically it was the holy grail of non-rechargeable glow starters. I often think about going in to pay for it when I visit my hometown even though it was 6-7 years ago.

I stole a ring from a store by accident once... nothing expensive, but I realized it was in my pocket after I got home.

when I was in college, I used to snag salt shakers and glasses/silverware from restaurants and the school cafeteria.

I stole some FireFlys (the things that go on your valve stems) for my bicycle, I really wanted them.
I stole some speakers out of this abandoned house. (the house blew up a few days after that, some crackhead raided the gas line)
I have bought or used mucho stolen stuff. (my bicycle was stolen from the bike shop I guess :p)
Nothing else really.

One time in HS, a couple buddies and I were driving around and we snagged a sandwich-board sign from in front of a tire store, as well as a couple traffic cones. Some of my other running buddies were also driving around stealing signs (not traffic signs or stop signs though - that is dangerous), and we dumped all of the stuff on our coach's lawn.

Funny - my coach and all of the parents had a good laugh about that, while my parents grounded my ass for almost 2 weeks :|. I'll never understand that.

13 Years ago when I was 16, and stupid, me and a friend each grabbed a handful of 28.8k modems (back when they were $200+) and busted out the fire exit.

Edit: and once when I was 13, my friends older brother and me took a 3 wheeler out for some joy riding. My friends older brother got arrested for it the next day cause he was still riding it around.

I used to steal a LOT in middle school years, until I was busted by Mervyn's security once and I pretty much changed careers at that point.

I've never taken stuff from a store without paying for it, but I do have some silverware from my school's dining hall.

Only things I've really stolen are cool glasses and ashtrays from bars, while drunk.

When I was in middle school a friends older brother and some of his friends ran their car into the wall of an office depot. Smashing the wall down. They then ran inside said hole and started grabbing laptops and other items. They got caught a short time after that. I guess no one thought far enough ahead that the car would be so smashed up it would be hard to drive and very noticeable.

I don't know how much trouble they got into for that one.

Me and my friends used to take orders from kids in school and go out over the weekend on stealing sprees.

One chick thought we were dorks and tried to show us up by making a list for us that included a gallon of milk, etc. We got all the stuff and brought into the school that Monday. Boy did we show her!

And yes, I stopped stealing. (Possibly due to arrest)

Haven't done it since I was 15.
