Poll: Have You Ever Had A STD?

Statistics show that most of us, at one time or another, are exposed to STDs such as chlamydia, human papilloma virus, herpes, etc.

Because women get to go to the gynocologist on a fairly regular basis, we know if we have picked up something nasty or not. Chances are good that if a woman is sexually active and has had several partners, she has been exposed to something.

With such a high percentage of males here, I am wondering if any of you are aware of what kind of communicable diseases you might have been in contact with during sexual activity.

OK, since my request didn't get honored, I'm in the "No, I'm 100% sure I'm clean" category.

Well, a lot of people I know have had HPV, which is an incurable virus and may contribute to cervical cancer in women.

I also have known several respectable professionals with herpes.

Women tell other women about what they have experienced, and I have to say quite a few of my friends (who are generally what you all would consider 'good' girls in general) have had to deal with these things. Most of them got the 'bug' from guys whom they were in serious, committed relationships with.

Is it any wonder that the second time around I chose a virgin? :D

LOL!! Touchy subject, huh? And you never know..... I LOOK perfectly healthy, but I'm a Hepatitis B carrier and have been for many years. It's sexually transmitted as well as through blood, etc. - although I got it from dirty needles. Army Medic training, honest. :p (Okay, yeah, I KNEW dropping 'em on the floor then using 'em was a BAD idea, but I was 17 and who really cared back then...sigh.) Point is, nobody would know if I didn't say something, and when they dropped dead or something they'd be totally lost as to where they got it.

Btw, if any of you HAVEN'T gotten the vaccine for Hep B then DO IT SOON. It's really stupid to not get something taken care of that could save your life. :(

Negative here. One problem with men is that Chlamydia, one of nastier one's that women can get, is carried often times unoticed by men.

never had that procudure myself but have had friends who have....that is exactly where the overgrown qtip goes :)

I'm a clean guy. Isla remember too even though there are alot of guys here, there are also alot of pretty young guys, and a fair share of those "inexperienced" in such realms. Ask again in 10 years ;) :)

Unexpurg8d~! Jolly to see you. :) Thank you for mentioning Hepatitis, that's an important one. People don't realize just how invisible these things can be.

My hope is that since these youngsters have been talking so much about 'doing' it lately, they will also be willing to talk about the very real risks involved.

My next thread will be about the three trimesters of pregnancy... followed by the average cost of raising a child to age 18.

:D ;)
