Did you just say you bombed a test and got a high B on it?

My school only lets you withdraw one month from the start of the semester. After that, you're stuck. Sometimes a month isn't enough to gauge how well you're doing, especially if you have a class that has very few tests and assignments.

define "failed"

kinda gotten a couple of D's but they still counted for grade, had to drop one class because i was sick of it.....that's it :) rest where b's and a's with very few c's thrown in there.

Never failed a class, but have withdrew from quite a few, even as late as a week from finals.

What school let you withdraw so late?

Some professors will let you withdraw up to the last min. I had a great math teacher once, she let the students (who were trying but just couldn't get it) take the final, she would add up their score and if they did not pass, would give them a W.

At my local school - you have a certain date to withdraw by (usually halfway in the semester) without grade penalty. If you withdraw after that date - automatic F in the class.

Made 2 D's in freshman level psychology and chemistry courses, but never failed anything, and haven't had a particularly hard time in any course.

no.

I actually almost failed a gen-ed health class, but the teacher fudged my grade and gave me the bare minimum I needed to get credit for the class (a C-).

people vastly underestimate the power of maintaining a friendly relationship with your professors.

It was San Francisco State Univ in the early 90s. Sometimes a teacher would give me some grief, but was never denied a withdraw. This was usually the week during, or the week right before the final exam. Typically I would sign up for 24 or so units, and just withdrew from the classes I didnt have time for. Typically if I couldnt pass the class by passing the midterm and final I would drop it. Usually that meant some sort of project that I missed because I wasnt in class for a bit.

Yes. I took too many classes in my second term. Had several exams the same day and had to choose which ones I could realistically study for. Therefore I failed Engineer Mathematics that year but I retook the next year and aced it.

I have failed Data Structures, Calc II for science/engineering and Intro to international relations.

Retook internation relations over the summer, got an A. Dont ever see myself being able to pass
Data Structures or Calc II but I may have to retake them in the future to fix my GPA.

Its not really a huge deal depending on the situation. I just switched majors cause I realized CS
wasnt exactly my thing. As long as I maintain like a 1.7 or better, Rutgers doesnt care how many
classes I fail. Think I have around a 2.4 right now..

I failed linear algebra/diff eq. Well It was a D, but I'm sure I could've passed. It's a freaking easy course but I decided never to do work. I retook for a B+. Could've gotten an A but I slacked on HW. I realized how easy the class was after seriously paying attention.

I failed C++ Programming II because I stopped going and didn't drop the class (I switched majors). And I failed Human Physiology (D+) for more or less the same reasons, although at the same time I ACED my final in a higher level course which builds on the Human Phys material so I ended up getting the class waived. :D
