I think that the FBI is mostly interested in busting harmful hackers/crackers (and then recruiting them) And dealing with perverts/molesters distrubuting illegal forms of porn(child) than finding people who steal software. Really, couldn't you consider DiVX a form of "warez" since it's a hacked asf codec. The warez problem is way too immense and unprofitable to deal with. M$ benefits from warez more than anyone else anyway (market share). I don't know anyone who's acutally 'bought' their operating system. (Win2K was $25 through my school, so I said what the hell...) They release their operating systems with easy ways to hack/crack them. I bet that XP will be just the same.

Hey, I support some software like quake and Nero. I mean damn, that's good programming, it really is. The rest, well...

most of the warez
download just link you to porn site
I can never find where to download

Websites are crap for finding warez anyway. FTPs, IRC, newsgroups. 'nuff said

Yes, yes and yes. i have at least $1000 of stuff on my comp. I figure, if no one ever pirated software, it would be less successful. Say I get Photoshop. It's 600 bucks, and I get it for free. That is going to cause me to talk about it, people will hear more about it, and it will help its popularity. And multiply that by all the other people doing the same. Also, the more people that can use a piece of software, the more businesses will buy it and use it. Also, say that I want to try out Photoshop. If I have to pay 600 bucks to try it out, then forget it. But, if I can try it out for free, then maybe I will like it alot and eventually buy it. If I don't like it, then I probably wont use it, and probably will uninstall it, and that's that.

Also--look around these forums, at all of the people using Win2k Server or advanced server. You actually think those people would pay for it???? Many of the people here are still in high school or college!! And, by using it they will obtain valuable experience with which they can get a good job, and have their employer shell out the $1000's for MCSE training, and MS makes money that way.

Just my opinions, don't flame me too much!

edit: typo

there is no question that pirating helps market share. After all, if we all didn't pirate MS Office (yeah, how many here can afford several hundred bucks??? not me), then StarOffice would have probably taken over by now.

With their activation stupidity, M$ will do nothing to stop the serious pirates, only casual newbs.

Yes I used to... when I needed these programs just for the fun of learning them when I was young... now... I don't search for warez... cause I already have them ! LOL :)

But seriously... I plan of buying the good ones when I have the money.

No - not really - unless Napster counts.

I can usually decide from the demo if I want the program or not.

I have all the software/games I need from "Hot Deals" (Win2K Pro OEM for $68; Sacrifice/Giants/Project IGI/Hitman all for less than $6 each) and "clearance tables" (Drive Image 3.0 for $9.88 considerately upgraded by PowerQuest to the latest version for free when I registerd it - I don't know if they will send the $15 rebate, however).

I never had to urge to have Photoshop (way way too much time needed to learn it when much simpler programs work well for me).

I really have to think hard if I have any warez . . . probably not.

<< Photoshop is actually not that hard. >>

Thanks, rub it in.

Paint Shop Pro is more my speed and price.

What do I need all that Adobe POWER for? I am no professional. (I can prove it.)

Face it people... the only people that actually buy software are companies... (the companies..that you I and everyone else works at)... so companies are making enough money to support themselves and keep on pumping out good quality software. As for games... I think that in about 5 years .. most games will be internet based which means better server side copy protection. (like Tribes 2, Half-Life)... so youll just have to go out and buy your games.... until then Just go to Direct Connect and download the best file sharing client in the world... and eat your bandwidth...

enough for advertising direct connect...

The reason that i have so much warez is that there are some very expensive programs that i might need just once (3d studio max) and there is no reason in shelling out. But for some games you have to respect that people have out hours of their time into this game and you are playing it for free.. If you play it once or twice... go ahead... download it... no reason for paying. But if you like it.. respect that the people who made the game did a really good job and go out and buy it...

Im out..

i used too, but they make it such PITA to download anything, I'd rather just pay and buy it (unless it's a Microshaft product of course).
