Did you honestly not know that you're SUPPOSED to tip the barber/stylist? That's been common knowledge since day one. I'll bet you've been wondering how come every time you go back they do a hack job on you, huh? That's because you are a cheapskate. You are so tight, that you squeak when you sh1t. You are so cheap that you requested a refund on the electricity when it took 65 seconds to make minute rice. You are so cheap that....well, you get the idea. :p

YES you are supposed to tip the person that cuts your hair. UNLESS, they totally do a hack job. My haircuts cost $8. I always give the man a 10-spot and tell him to keep it. He is very happy and takes EXTRA time with me when he cuts my hair. Does all the little things like powder your neck afterwards, brushes the hair off your face every few minutes, etc. People who tip well get better treatment than cheapo people do; that's a well-known fact.

I thought a tip was already included in the 15 dollar price tag.... honest :)
I guess i will start tipping now, but first i gotta find a REAL barber, i've been going to the same place for some time now and i never see the person who cut my hair last.

RossMAN can you give me one of your coupon codes? :D

Like JZero, I also go to an "Old Fashioned Barber Shop" w/a bunch of older gents that have been cutting hair...sometimes with a straight razor :Q for 40 years or so. I have found that if you find a good shop and stick with the SAME barber every time (only using someone else if he's not there) and you tip well, they will give you the dope-ass haircut everytime! :) When I walk in it's "hello Sir, how have you been?" And "the usual today, Sir?" Gotta love that kind of treatment. <----Mr. Bigshot for the 15 minutes during my haircut...then back to my Peon Existence.

I didn't know that you were supposed to tip a hairdresser because I'm not from the USA, but everytime I went to the same person I got a nice haircut. So your theory does not work. And WTF do you tip a hairdresser? Why not an automechanic? A lawyer? A doctor? A bagger in a grocery store? All of these people do their job and yet, some are for some strange reason given tips and others are not? Who decides?

I paid the 15 bucks and was about to leave when i saw another lady leave a 4 dollar tip for her sons hair cut, i kinda paused because this was the first time i've seen anyone tipping for a haircut.
I guess i could of left one because she cut it well, but she was with someone else and it would of seem kinda stupid to say "oh sorry i forgot your tip" so i left.

You have NEVER left a tip before? Wow!
My cuts are usually $12 and I always leave a $5 tip regardless. I tip pretty good when I go out to eat as well. Why...hmmm....probably to make up for guys like you. :)

I get my hair cut at a salon. And guess what ... I am also a GUY :p. But wanna know what? I get the normally $35 haircut for FREE[/]b. The guy who owns the salon is a 29 year old very successful man and I am friends with him and his girlfriend. And his girlfriend cuts my hair for free :D

ANd yea, I tip her like $5, sometimes more if I have spare cash. And if she isn't the one who washes my hair, then I tip that person a buck or two as well.

Same here. Last time I got my haircut I left the girl who does my hair a $5 tip on a $15 cut. She is fvcking hot too, and only a year older(shes 21, I'm 20), though I don't know if she's involved. Either way I wouldn't have the balls to ask her anything anyway, she is out of my league, unfortunately. (wish I had pics) :( But she does a damn good job on my hair either way.

Come on i'm not rich here.

Damn she was a hot one though :p Talked the whole time too so it wasn't boring. I am gonna make an appointment with her specifically next time I go. She also styled it neat and I like it.

Barber shops, jeez, what is wrong with you guys, go to a hair salon with a bunch of twenty something girls working, those old farts only know how to do one haircut and they would never talk you out of a mullet.

BTW, I don't give her the tip, I give her the whole thing (I married a hairdresser)

It's $15 to get a wash and cut my hair. (Don't knock having an attractive lady lather up your hair) I normally give $18-$20 total depending on the quality of the cut, etc.

I tip barbers because it's like $7

Stylists that charge $16 already have a tip built in.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!
BTW, I didn't know you were supposed to tip a haircutter/barber until I was 14 or so. I've done it ever since. Usually $12 for the cut plus anywhere from $1 to $3 as tip depending on how I like the cut. If they do a sit and spin on me or if they treat me rudely, I usually leave a dollar. If they treat me nice, I leave a higher tip. Just like in a restaurant.

It costs me $8.50 and I just give them a $10 and say to keep the rest. I got this new guy once though and he did a bad job. Left hair around my ears and such, so the next time I got stuck with him, I didn't give him anything. Now I avoid him like the plague. Basically, try not to tick off the guy with a razor or sissors.
