POLL: For those who use mouthwash

Earlier the GF & I had a friendly quarrel over the proper time to use mouthwash.

I say before brushing.
She says after brushing.

So which is it?

i actually do before and after...dunno if the before is doing anything but making me buy twice as much mouthwash but i've been doing it for years

This makese sense and anyone who wants to debate it with me bring it on:

After floss because those who don't floss and once they do their gums will bleed. Use the mouthwash to rinse the blood away and it will always go better into your gums.

If you floss all the time then it is best to do it after because after you floss you get rid of whatever is between your teeth and the mouthwash has a better chance of reaching the gums.

Floss after brush.

Wouldn't a mouthwash containing alcohol (i.e. listerine) prolong the bleeding?
So maybe a rinse with water would be more appropriate.

I would imagine that rinsing with anything immediately after would prolong the bleeding.

Beats me. I've never bled from flossing. Just seems like rinsing would wash away all the platelets and keep it going longer.

After

There's such thing as a dental rinse which you would use before you brush. Maybe that's what you were thinking of?

usually i take mouthwash during the day when i do not brush my teeth (morning/nighttime) so i'd be "n/a" (or better, guinea pig rectum cancer) for this poll...
