Picard and Siscko are tied for me as far as captain, but Patrick Stewert is a better actor all around.

Picard, Kirk arguments fine. I'll even give siscko a nod. But Janeway, no way.

As a captain, I'm going to go old school with Kirk from the original series (not Kirk from the movies). Then Picard. I just didn't like the way Janeway always won so easily against such insurmountable odds... she singlehandedly pussified the Borg, which kinda ruined things. Sisko and Archer I don't care about either way.

Being a child who grew up watching Captain Kirk in the original series, I've seen every episode and all the movies in the theater when they came out, I was torn because the earlier series look so campy now and the movies with the original cast really started to suck badly after 'The Voyage Home' (hell, even that one is debatable). TNG was really well done and had that Gene Roddenbery influence so it hooked me like none of the other spin offs have (Enterprise has come close though).

So, for that reason I voted for Jean Luc Picard. I still watch those over the originals, maybe because I've seen the all the original Star Trek episodes so many times...it's just hard to watch most of them now.

Sisko? Who the fvck is sisko? Why is anyone voting for this yahoo over Kirk? Or Janeway over Kirk for that matter? Picard, Kirk, Archer...end of story. Nothing more needs to be said.

Ugh...you people just don't get it...

Edit-Is Sisko that black dude who ran that space station? He shouldn't even be considered. Maybe best space station mayor but certainly not captain.

I picked Picard but i wanted to jus add a comment.

in the final 'All Good Things' episodes of TNG, al lot of the TNG cast were commanders or captains including worf, riker, , Dr Crusher.. etc. That was kinda fun to see. My favorite scene is when Riker comes back in the Enterprise to engage the 3 klingon ships that were attacked Crusher's ship. so Riker would be fav. commander if that was an option.

One thing though... am I the only one who thinks riker aged twice as much as the others in that final episode... lol

I dunno.. jus got home and still drinkin'.. so me buzzin'

Clearly Picard is the paragon of Star Fleet captains.

The others have their own things going for them, but Picard is what every captain should STRIVE to be....

Sorry old school Star Trek here so James Tiberius Kirk has to be #1, Picard #2 and Archer #3. I never watched the other 2 so no idea about them.

Sheesh! It is difficult for me to pick.

I watched the original series when they came out, and well, Star Trek = Kirk.
But I like Picard much better. He is sexy and hot! And acts like a Captain.
I watched Kate Mulgrew as Mary on Ryan's Hope in the 70's, so could never see her as a Capt.
Scot Bakula hahaha!! He is the Quantum Leap guy!!
I never watched 9 for more than five minutes so cannot judge.

:)

WTF?

What Roddenberry influence? He died in the beginning of the first season. If you watch TNG you can actually see when the stories started to be written by hollywood hacks rather than real writers.

ST:TOS atleast had real sci-fi writers comming up with great stories that were about more than just the technology.

TNG disgusted me because it was such a propaganda piece for socialist ideology. It treated socialism/communism as the utopian ideal and the only capitalists were evil little trolls. Not only that, but the constant focus on PC was such a laugh fest.

TOS was FAR better.

sisko was from ds9, archer is from enterprise

I personally think sisko will rank as my fav, just cause he's the one captain we got to see kick ass in a real, well i guess as real as it gets, war. none of this one conflict boom it's over, but long 6-10 episode story arches, culminating with this endall climatic battle. That's what got me hooked

Picard was definatley a close second, but the fact that sisko hates picard really pushed him over the edge. Kirk will come in. I don't watch enterprise, but i'm sure archer is better than janeway. something about voyager just rubbed me the wrong way.

Gene Roddenberry Died in the 5th season... My take on Captains

Picard >>>>>Sisko>Archer (Bakula's a much better actor at least in the series)>Kirk>Janeway
