What about the best of both worlds: BMW's 333hp (262 ft-lbs @ 4900) 3.2L Inline-6 found in the M3?

Neither. I'd rather have a 355ci small block chevy with 12.5 to 1 compression, and a holley 4 barrell 850 cfm carb, that will run all day at 7000+ rpms, and make over 600 horsepower. Come to think of it, I already have one! And later this year, I'll be building a 377 that will wind even faster.

You know what I meant dammit. And believe me, this thing sucks down some gas, and gas for it isn't cheap. $4.50 a gallon last time we bought it!

Try a poll with a REAL American V8, like a 5.7L (350ci) or larger and see what happens. Didja pick a weenie 4.6L on purpose or what?

if it is made by BMW and has 6 or more cylinders, I will take it....

nissan makes a great 6 cyl for the maximas too though. Other than that, some of the bigger chevys are nice.

I wouldn't be caught dead in a 4cyl, they don't weigh enough, and around here, if you get in a front end colision, you won't have much to protect you.....

RAIV heads flow well stock. They made 455's from 1970-76.

I don't like Ford engines much, but I can't crack on the potential of the 4.6 and 5.4 liter engines.

A friend of mine has a Mustang race car with 1210 hp (yes, 1,210hp) at the REAR WHEELS. That's with a turbocharged 5.4. I'm impressed.

I'd prefer the "neck snapping" acceleration of a .6L - 1L high revving 4-cyl.

Edit: Yea, yea, I know. Not a fair comparison. For car engines, I prefer the smoothness of >4 cylinder engines, but don't care for large displacement. A happy medium - 3.2 or 3.6L V6 perhaps.

another vote for VQ35 or the M I6. (heheh bond and bmw). though with the poll as it is i went for the 4.6 modular V8.

The only way to go. If you've looked under the hood of a vintage mustang compared to a '89 Honda Accord, you'd see that the Mustang is MUCH easier to work on.

hell, the alternator on my 88 is a bitch to get at. you have to remove the wheel and part of the driveshaft to get to it.

Probably been said a bunch of times. But the 4.6 Mustang motor isn't really a good choice for "roarer". 460, 454, 455, 440, 488. Now those are the numbers
