Poll: Dress code at work

Almost anything goes. The Secretary of LA DOTD is trying to push for a dress code. I don't think it will happen. I have noticed this about the engineers, though:

The senior engineers (supervisors, administrators, etc) wear suits.

The post-PE engineers wear khakis and dress shirts w/ ties.

The pre-PE engineers (including me) wear polo-style shirts and jeans. We dress up for big meetings, though.

Generally jeans or khakis with a nice shirt (no tshirts) are acceptable here. Most people keep a coat & tie at the office in case anybody important stops by for a demo or such.

Polos are supposed to have company logo on them...but those polos cost 35 buck each so no one follows that rule.

No sneakers what so ever...have to wear dress shoes or non-sneaker,non hiking boot stuff. I wear my beat up docs 🙂

I think software companies that don't allow their employees to wear jeans are nuts...

Part time job #1 (accounting), anything as long as it's clean. PT #2 (tech & AV installation), work clothes - clean doesn't matter. PT#3 (web copywriting), underwear unless it's a rare face meeting. PT#4 (music - keyboards), black.

in an 85 degree warehouse, we can wear sleeveless shirts and shorts, tennis shoes

when i go on-site, khaki's and a button up, nothing fancy

business casual. wear according to your department.

only the ceo and vice presidents wear suit and tie. scientists and lab staff wear anything as casual as jeans up to khakis. just no shorts for them. the wherehouse workers wear anything comfortable to do alot of physical work. and supervisors, managers, and department heads wear business casual since they do alot of meetings internally and externally and need to look presentable.

fridays are more casual than others though i dress the same regardless. anything from jeans to cargo pants. i rarely wear slacks to work since i'm mostly in the lab. i can wear tshirts but i feel more comfortable wearing anything with a collar any day of the week.

I work a 2nd shift so there's no clients or other bosses around when I'm here. I can wear pretty much anything as long as its not indecent. 🙂
