Anime = suck.

I can agree with that.

I think it's kinda nerdy but it's not any more nerdy than say, watching Star Trek or Babylon 5. And yes, I watch Star Trek too. :)

Not any more so than watching any cartoon once you're past the age of 11.

So even Simpsons and Family Guy?

those target adult audience, mostly due to the kind of humor contained in them - ie normal people can relate to it. Seeing as anime only attracts small fracation of the adult population, you cant argue thats aimed to that segment at all...

Sure I can. Much of it made in Japan is targeted towards the adult audience.

i'm not sure "nerd" is the appropritae term.

I reserve "nerd" for people who study too much, and make a living out of knowing everything. People who wear pocket-protectors, and stereotypically wear thick-rimmed glasses.

I reserve "dork" for those that are into some sort of gaming, or comic books, or other form of entertainment that has little to do with being smart. I think anime fans are dorks, but they could be nerds if they knew everything about anime. Then again, fans are fans so they deserve a seperate category. I watch anime, but i don't consider myself a fan.

Finally, "geek" is reserved traditionally for computer enthusiasts. Possibly this can be extended for other technical interests. Wether a hardware or programming interest, the geek knows great amounts about computers, but little else to constitute being a nerd.

Being as I am a gamer and a computer programmer, I am a geek-dork. Or perhaps a dork-geek since gaming came first. But I am not a nerd, I resent the term nerd. I barely read.
