Sort of?
I work overtime, not because the company says I have to, but because the work is interesting and I feel like doing it.
Since it's not technically approved, I don't get paid for it. It's basically on the house. I guess that's what happens when work and hobbies start to overlap. :)

A few years ago - our job classification was salary [which rewarded us with stock options - alas - most are worthless today]. Due to some weird rule changes our job classification was changed to non-salary with profit sharing which means OT for working after 5pm and weekends [assuming we are logging 40 hours of regular work mon-fri].

I get OT plus commission. If I work 4 hours on my day off I make about $150. I do that most weeks.

Correct. Classifying an employee as Salary Exempt is ONLY in the benefit of the employer, not the employee. That way they get your labor/overtime for free.

I won't work for free.

do u get a year end merit based bonus?
and i don't mean a $50 gc to red lobster. i'm mean like a real bonus, like % of salary.

Are you salary?

This attitude will permanently keep you out of management.

I got out of management for this exact reason. You're a salary slave. Now my time is my money. If you call me, you're paying me. If I do anything remotely associated with what one would call work, you're paying me.

I honestly don't think I'll ever go back to not getting paid directly for my time. I won't work for free, never again.

If a position requires more than 40 hours a week, you can't say the excess is overtime. That's what the job requires.

Forget you wrote that an hr ago? lol

and no, no overtime for me I just add in the hours. Wouldn't matter anyway, I have a set amount I can make for the next couple of months. When the money is gone so is my job.

We get the idea. You posted the same thing a hour ago.

And the post above mine said the same thing. I'm a dumbass.

I do work some OT... and am not paid.

I do however get "comp time", which is better than nothing.

1.5x over 40 Hours, and then 2x over 51 hours. They have been cutting back on OT though and won't let us work more than 5-8 hours a week. This is for a datacenter administrator type position when most of our work is off hours. I'm waiting for management to ask us why our projects are falling behind schedule and such.

salary exempt.

I don't mind working an extra 20-30 minutes to finish something up (especially since I'm usually in late anyways). if I have to stay late beyond that for some reason (ie: client has scheduled maintenance coming up and there's not going to be anyone on schedule to take care of it), I'll usually make it up by coming in late or leaving early the following day.

No OT and lots of overtime, but I have been treated really well, so I cannot complain.

Yup, no questions asked... However, there is no current need for me to work it.

When I do though, I just get paid time point 5 or double depending on the day, etc.

It's also not paid after 44 hours, its paid daily (after 8)

Great pay structure at this company, that is for sure.

I'm the highest paid person in my department because of the amount of overtime I do.

I rarely ever turn it down and I have done several 70+ hour weeks in a row before.
