POLL: Do you read a thread before you post?

Do you read what a thread says before you post? I posted a question in general hardware a few days ago, and it looks to me like only one person actually read what I had posted... a little annoying if you ask me. Anyways back to the question, how often do you read the first post in the thread, or how far down do you read in the thread?

it all depends. if the thread is 20 posts long...i'll read it. if it is 240 post long, i probably won't. and it depends on the topic.

too many factors.

(how do you pronounce "butte"?)

Yeah for stuff like that it is pretty obvious that only the first post needs to be looked at, but other questions where someone starts an arguement or a question about a piece of hardware.

depends.
if there are tons of posts then i read the fist 5 or 10 and the last 5 or ten before posting.
not going to waste time reading several hundred posts, unless of course it is a thread i started.

I try to read them all so I don't repeat something that has already been said.

If it is mumbo jumbo big, then I just cross my fingers.

What I love is when an argument has advanced a light year or two from the original question and one by one people pop in to state a premice that was dismissed a hundred posts ago. Gays are unnatural because thay can't have kids. People are profoundly interested in what they say but not at all in what others say.

When I see, 'I didn't read the rest of the post but'... that's as far as I read that one. I do admire the honesty though, and on occassion, I do the same thing. 😀

Occasionally I do the "i didn't read the rest but...", altho usually don't get into a thread if it has more than 60 or 70 posts so I don't spend my day getting caught up.

But, no, I do not read every post in the thread (this one I did) I usually read the first 10 or so, a few in the middle and the last few.
