There used to be a chance at intelligent debate but now in P&N as soon as a posiytion on an issue is posted then the name calling begins.

Off Topic used to be a fun little cummunity but now it is a nef filled day care center.

Hey, whatta ya mean by School Marms?

SYLLABICATION: school·marm
VARIANT FORMS: also school·ma'am (-mäm, -mm)
NOUN: A woman teacher, especially one who is regarded as strict or old-fashioned
ETYMOLOGY: school1 + dialectal marm (variant of ma'am).
OTHER FORMS: schoolmarmish ?ADJECTIVE[/quote]

Alrighty then. Being a woman teacher, though not a strict or old-fashioned one, I was about to take offense. Especially when I've been around for almost five years and not complained about it being too rough in here.

Though I do wish you young whippersnappers would use the appropriate punctuation and keep a thesaurus and dictionary by your computers at all times. :p

I agree with Red Dawn about AT being too childish lately. Every other thread is "how do I get a date" and "do you keep toilet paper up or down". I also do remember NoWhereMan and NoWhereWoman. :)

Speaking of the way it was archive.org going back to Nov, 2000

:) I remember those days! I'd only been here 2 months then.

They even have a Skoorb original on archive, regarding the US's opinions of Cuba.
All we get out of the media from the US is how evil Cuba is - and yet the rest of the world doesn't seem to have such a hate for this country; so what do you people think? Are they going to take over the world and spread their slimy communism as your government would have us believe or what?

He had only been here 2 months back then too.

we would of loved you over at the limmy forums while they were still up. blows chunks that whenever somebody gets cut down to size here they cry to the mods or get personal real quick. sounds to me like there was genuine wit to be found in the old days; one didnt have to pander to get laughs.

The "old days" certainly had a more frontier feel to them. The Internet bubble was in full swing, the Intel/AMD processor wars were just getting started, and 3DFX was nVidia's main competitor.

I remember when the 700 MHz Pentium III was the overclocker's choice (to 933 MHz), when Paulson was one of the first to get a 1 GHz Athlon (remember, the crap one with 1/3 speed L2 that could barely outrun the 900 MHz version), and the routing of Dennilfloss.

This is my fourth incarnation on AnandTech forums. I was never a particularly prolific poster, but it is interesting to see how things have evolved.
I still have the Comcrap 1 Ghz... but it's not really a compaq anymore, I gutted it... I've got an asus board in there now (I still have the 1Ghz processor)...

I miss the good old days of getting into arguments with Red Dawn... Russ called our house after the tornado rolled through....

man it was just amazing how the forums used to be compared to right now. Oh well, most people don't even know I'm frequent the forums anymore... but I still do.

I'm not sure if I miss the "old days" or not. I do know that I've been here way too long. Approaching six years already...

Yep, lots o' fun back then.
IMO it started sucking right around 2000, and went quickly downhill from there.

I miss The Scroll from Uberneumann or someone like that. Other than that, this place is about the same. It's got more young people bickering over stuff than before, but I have a nice little mental filter I use to ignore threads and posts based on title and poster, so there's no problem.

I'm not sure if I miss anything... I never really was a part of the community like some people... so I am not even really sure exactly what you mean...

Now that I think about it... I wonder how I could have gone this far without ever really being involved... more just post to post, useless stuff most of the time :)
