haha i dont know about your homedepot but i think you have it completly backwards, sure lowes lumber is "rated: better but everytime i have bought lumber from lowes its warped and twisted. and they have had 2 different lowes in this area alone with all the same consequences.
IME, locally, Lowes lumber is MUCH better then HD ... Their stuff is abbsolute crap. I went through a whole stack of 2x12x16 a few weeks ago, and didn't find a single one I really trusted to hold up my stairs. All splits, huge knots, or outside pieces, and sopping wet. I went to Lowes, and picked three right off the top of the stack.
But to be honest, I don't buy much lumber at either unless it's a few pieces on the way home from work, or on Sundays. The local mom & pop lumberyard has better lumber & service (and I have an account) then either Lowes or HD. But they close @ 5 and aren't open sundays.
the local lowes the people there are brain dead. i went in there none of them offered to help me with anything (#1 customer service) and you ask them something ummm...umm...ughhh...yea i dont know let me find you someone....then they run for the break room.
I'd say that the HD people are slightly more clueful then the Lowes people ... but frankly, that's like saying Hoover is better then Eureka ... they both suck
Actually, on nights and weekends, you can sometimes find tradespeople working a second job that actually have a clue. But if you want blank stares, try talking to some of those schmucks on a weekday over lunch.
lowes is in debt. home depot is the 2nd largest retailer in the WORLD after walmart...lowes has a lot more to do before they beat HD
as for the stocks...Lowes beat HD in comps not anual sales and that is why the stocks went down.
home depot gets 15% off on stocks which i think is better than a measly 10% off merch
HD just had a couple corperate problems with a few changes but the company is comming back..and truthfully lowes has big shoes to fill
Your point?? I think Lowes tries harder. and besides, bigger isn't always better. Just look at Microsoft
as for the person who said there are numerous "orange aprons" walking around...how come every customer says they can never find anyone??
