Most states have a law that if your wipers are on, you're headlights must be on too. However, most people never follow.

Yesterday I saw a car almost rear-end a guy who was practically invisible because his lights were off...

I dont see why people wouldnt drive with headlights on in the rain its really hard to see other cars in front of you because of the mist/spray off the roads. But then again, it amazes me when i come across someone (or nearly rearend them) because i couldnt see them up ahead because of it. TURN YOUR LIGHTS ON!

If you don't you should be dragged out of the car, beaten, and left in the rain.

If the visibility is poor, then I'll switch my lights on. If there's still good visibility, then I normally don't

I do miss how my Toyota Corolla had daytime running lamps.

I wonder if/when Honda will offer this in the Accord.

I'm more annoyed when people turn on their parking lights and think that gives them improved visibility to other drivers. Hey, parking lights are called that for a reason, you dolts!

Pouring rain this morning on the way to work. If people didn't have their headlights on, it would be almost impossible to see them next to/behind you driving at highway speeds...

I know. What I don't get is the NYPD is writing summons' for petty stuff, why not ticket people who actually deserve it?...

well, my running lights are on in the day, and i only have my true lights on if my auto lights decide to turn on when raining, and there is no way to turn them off from what i know.

I turn them on because I want people to see me. I wish everyone did so I could see them.

Depends for me.

Always in heavy traffic.

Always if wipers are on low speed (past delay).

Other times it varies.

I guess it's a non-issue for those with DRL.

I HATE those GD things...esp. the Saturns. Those lights are so close together and they are bright as hell. I always have to flip my day/night lever on the rearview mirror. GM/Saturn are definitely the worst but lately it seems Toyotas are getting in the game.

And what's bad about the DRLs, at least on some cars I've seen, is the rear taillights will NOT come on. So, rent a car at night from an airport and pull out and you have headlights but NO taillights! Found that out one day when renting a Corolla in Houston.
