Actually, you don't deserve to be driving. Tail-lights are important in heavy rain, especially on the highway. Most of the time the tires will spit the water up and cause a mist, reducing visibility...

Yes... except out here in the midwest we get some pretty crazy weather, like sunshowers. it'll be bright and sunny with blue skies, and then a single cloud pouring rain down on us. it's bizarre but if you live out here you know what i mean.

I need some body work done on my car... would you do me a favor and drive near me while it's raining out?

I don't understand all you people talking about your daytime running lights. Are you all stupid? Do you want to get rear ended?

Rain? Whats that? Oh the wet stuff. Simply put if visibility is so bad while driving that you need lights then its time to get off the highway and
wait till the weather conditions improve.

BTW its not safe to drive here in the rain as it seldom does rain. People have little experience driving under these conditions out here so if
you are passing thru west texas and you encounter a rainstorm its best to find high ground and pull off the road..

Its been raining on and off for a month now in NYC. Its not so much the rain but the mist the tires kick up. Also, I live near the water so there can be a faint fog around...

the law here is that if you are driving the lights must be on, no matter what time of the day it is

Oregon. You only need to have them on from sunset to sunrise, or if poor light conditions make it difficult to see 1000 feet clearly. It rains here most of the year. You can see just fine in a drizzle.

Don't think California or Washington do either.

I do, didn't know it was a law, maybe not in my state, but it's common courtesy to do so, so i do, even when foggy and such i'll do it, it doesn't help me see better in the least, it just makes me more visible.

In case no one has said anything... bikes require lights, at night and in the rain. I got a ticket for not having a light on my bike at night (waste of time and of the states money bah)

Always because it's a law in either Iowa or Illinois or both and I live in Illinois but drive in Iowa about every day.
