For the purposes of this poll, we'll say that "intelligent" means you think you're smarter than 75% of the population. We're going to go ahead and limit "population" to the country in which you live.

Do you consider yourself intelligent? We'll get to the arrogance poll later on.

Sort of... not so much intelligent as I think I have a really good eye for seeing the true interactions that go on in the world. I can see two people talking and hear all the bullsh!t and games that are being played in the conversation, even if they aren't aware of it themselves.

It kind of makes me disconnected from people in a way. I don't have the patience or the desire to play a lot of the "games" that I see, so generally I don't say much at all. This, in turn, lends people to the thought that I am intelligent because when I say something it is because I have thought it out and so it sound smart. But in reality, I think maybe it is because I just say a lot less sh!t than most people, and so my intelligence might be illusory.

But I do believe I am somewhat more intelligent than the average person, just not sure if I am in the top 25%.

When I look around my classrooms at school, somehow I get the drift that I dont belong there. There are a lot of stupid people in this world...

From these preliminary results, AT'ers are either exceptionally intelligent, or they have very high self esteem :)

Call me arrogant, conceited, or whatever, but yes. I do. I'm just a cocky bastard like that.

Think there'll be any no answers? By measurable societal standards - standardized testing, age vrs year in school - I'm pretty intelligent. However, my strengths lie in English and human interactions, not math and science.

Yes. I know for a fact I'm smarter than most (most meaning 51%) of the population although I don't know how I fare in the top

That is EXACTLY how I feel. Or, I am walking around campus, and feel totally alone. Like all these people are concerned with the petty things in the world and they can't open their eyes and see that the path they are on leads to no good end.

As I heard before, I was one of the best of the best in high school, but I am one of the worst of the best of the best that came out of high school into college.

So no, but I do think i am wise beyond my age. ;)

Based on standardized tests and other supposed metrics (e.g. IQ), I'm theoretically more intelligent than 95% of the population.
However, because I understand what a load of BS standardized tests and those supposed metrics can be, I am also de facto more intelligent than 95% of the population :)

I've got the shiny silver Mensa pin so yes, at least in the areas of logic and symbol processing.

I do believe in other kinds though, such as emotional intelligence and wisdom. In those areas I'm much closer to the norm.

I voted NO. I don't think I am. But then I read your actual post saying 75% of the USA. Then I'd say yes... there's a $#!Tload of imbeciles out there... and I think I'm being conservative.

i think no matter where i go in the world i will always feel very different from the people there. not just in intelligence (even though i consider myself to be pretty smart) but in many other ways.

I actually agree with what you had to say about yourself, d-link... I'm not one for much social interaction in the way most people do it... I hate playing mind games or social games... *sigh*
