I'm really struggling to benchmark BL4, mainly because I'm not enjoying it at all!

It runs badly at 3440x1440. If I set it to BadAss mode, no FG, no upscaling it runs at a craptacular 22fps. If I set it to the lowest setting, no FG, no upscaling it runs at a slightly less craptacular 48 FPS.

Basically you have to use upscaling (and that looks shitty) or FG and that feels shitty.
Tbh though it feels shitty anyway. Bullets move really slowly, gun aiming is sluggish and laggy, visually everything is pretty cluttered and you're going to get shot by people who you can't find, plus you have to shoot people a billion times to kill them.

My son and I couch co-op the first 2 games so many hours that I think it burned me out on the franchise. I got BL3, BL The Pe-sequel, Tiny Tina's WL, all for free from Epic over the years. I started to play the pre-sequel but it was same old same old and I was bored in under an hour. Maybe the bug will bite me again someday.

Try the Hardware Unboxed optimized settings out.

I guess you've heard about the FSR4 leak, which led to the creation of a .DLL that can be used on non-RDNA4 gpus.

This guy is testing it on his 6900XT.


There's a lot of rambling as the title says, but the interesting part is at 09:00 where he shows the difference of FSR3.1 vs FSR4 and at 13:00 he gives some performance numbers.

Pirate Yakuza native 4k = 40fps
Pirate Yakuza at 4k with frs 3.1 = 100fps
Pirate Yakuza at 4k with fsr4= 68-75 fps

Also this guy posted a how to, but the important thing is that he used FSR4 on a freagin....GTX 1650!


I asked chatGPT to devise a table showing how older gpus may fair. It's estimation is based on INT8 performance per gpu generation. For example it explained that the GTX 970 while it can do INT8, each op ties up a full 32-bit ALU. Maybe that's why my 970runs like a dog if I try to use XeSS. But I WILL try the FSR4 mode for laughs. I guess its Radeon 6000 estimations are a bit off! I will test my 6600 as well ofc. xD

So is the problem UE5 or features such as RT, Lumen, Virtual Shadow Map etc.?

Over on Twitter, SynthPotato shared a clip of The Beast (while taking a potshot at Randy Pitchford) and highlighted how smoothly it runs on PS5, as well as the fact that it has FOV sliders on console. That tweet got a ton of attention, with other players sharing how easily the game is running for them as well.

I had no issues running The Beast in my 30+ hours with the PC version, which was a very nice surprise.

It's not just this tweet that's proof of how Dying Light: The Beast is doing, as its Steam page is flooded with positive reviews mentioning its performance and how nice it is that there aren't issues for once. One review even says, "I can't believe I just launched the game in 2025 and it works", which is pretty telling.

Interestingly, Dying Light: The Beast doesn't run on Unreal Engine 5 like all of the other games having problems this year, as it's using Techland's C-Engine. Not to point the finger at Unreal Engine or anything, but it is the common denominator in 2025's tidal wave of performance problems.



Also apparently this game stutters when enabling Reflex

Borderlands 4 vs Borderlands 3

The latest version doesn't scale well on low settings for texture, lighting & reflection. Hence comes off as unoptimized on low end GPUs



I'm not sure I would call the 2060 an equal to the 560ti 16gb. 2060Super maybe. The super was $400 or so at the end of 2019. It is also amusing that we are seeing DLSS vs native res with TAA. So it is BL3 at native 1440p vs BL4 with upscaled 1440p. Sub 1080p upscaled to 1440p I guess?

Overall a comparison that shows fancy global lighting doesn't make for a better game, just likely an easier one for dev's to make. In a stylized shooter like Borderlands though, gameplay at 60fps should be the priority.

I tried that on my 6600. Very easy. The setup did warn me about unsigned drivers though, lol.

I tried optiscaler in Silent Hill f and while FSR4 does get exposed (with the known custom DLL from the leaked source), I don't think it's working. There were very bad artifacts. I mean it was not resolving properly and also optiscaler was reporting 1080p input 1080p output. FSR 3.1.5 was way better. Thankfully XESS2 was also exposed and that did an excellent resolving. I would dare say it was even better from what I have seen with DLSS in that game, not always but at parts, especially considering that I used 1080 xess quality and optiscaler reported 720p real resolution alright.

This is the 40min run if anyone cares (non monetized channel, just for fun).

PS I used epic textures....
