It's the Law!

At least here in Germany. 30? fine if you are cought. 50? and a point for every child that is in the car under your supervision and not buckled up.

Nope...never have...can't stand 'em. Been ok for ~15 years...

Thank god we don't have any retarded laws forcing you to wear it in my state. Wearing it should be a choice...not mandatory. If you get in an accident and die because you weren't wearing one, it has no effect on anyone else. People are so comfortable nowadays with laws that force them to do things....*shrug*

Edit:

We do have a law that they must be worn by children, and I'm fine with that.

Yes I do. I have a guy I know at work who I occasionally go to lunch with. He never wears a seatbelt and he recently got a new Honda Accord that keeps beeping at him to put his seatbelt on. He never budges. We'll be driving for 10 straight minutes and he doeesn't even act like anything is beeping. It is insanely annoying.

You do realize there are types of crashes where a seatbelt can make things worse, or possibly trap you in the vehicle right?

Got to here, big fat fines, plus loss of licence, plus jail time, and besides, with all the "dangerous" P-Platers in there "Dangerous" cars getting about you would be an idiot not to!

yep in australia mate, very heavy penalties here for a lot of driving offenses, the government is trying to trial a GPS based speed limiting system for cars, so in a residental zone you do only 50 or 60 km/h depending on the speed zoning, and out on the highway 100 or 110km/h depending on the zoning, very screwed up here, you can have your car confiscated for "Unsustained loss of traction" a burn out or wheel spin less than 5 seconds, anything over is a heafty fine and the permant loss of your car, well you could always buy it back at auction, plenty of my friends have lost their cars this way.

i always wear mine, it is the law but id wear it anyways, hit a deer going 70mph head on at a straight away, it jumped out on front of me way to late to do anything, pushed the radiator almost a foot back into the rest of the front of the car smashed up the entire hood and windshield, luckily it didn't come through the windshield at me, but b/c of my seatbelt and the fact that i sit back in my chair i walked away without a scratch, the airbags both went off and it didn't even touch me.

In Queensland (a state of Australia)I have heard of reports that the police there are fineing people for "excess acceleration" don't ask me how they work that one out, but a friend of mine had a Mazda RX-7 s4 with a modified 13B REW in it and was booked for accelerating to 100km/h in less than 3 seconds by the local fuzz, he coped a huge fine even though he never went over the speed limit, I've had warnings from the police about heavy acceleration from a set of lights, but I'm in NSW so I told them to go and stick there head in an uncomfortable place!, its a sad state over here

seat belt should still be compulsory, i think they showed an advert on the TV here about passangers in the back not wearing seat belts, where they have a crash and the people in the back shoot forward crushing the people in front of them, it was pretty horrific, and even worse as in the advert the person infront of the guy (who wasnt wearing a seat belt) was his mum, so really he killed his mum through his own ignorance....i wouldnt wanna live with that

Oh the irony. If you can't form a complete sentence with actual words, you might want to hold off on calling people stupid.

😛

actually it can happen, a rear passenger flung over a front seat could do horrendous damage!

If they are in the middle they might be thrown through the windshield....but you can't tell me they are what...going to go through the front seat and crush the front passenger/driver? If the wreck has that much force involved, the people in the front of the car would be dead anyhow...seatbelt or no.

IMO.
