if something so simple can save your life, why not do it?

I certainly don't have anything against it. I just forget.

Stupid people yes, there are plenty, but this takes extreme stupidity. Why would you not wear one? There are VERY few people who don't get in a accident atleast once or more, and all it takes is once to kill you. I used to be that stupid, then I got in a accident, luckily I WAS wearing it that time, as I would have been injured badly had I not.

Wear it non stop for a month, promise it'll feel weird NOT wearing it, plus itll become habit to grab it and put it on every single time.

My wifes' family has now gotten so they don't argue with me. Mostly.

After "tasting" a windshield when I was 16 and a passenger in the front seat, I have worn it everytime I have been in a car for 12 years now.

Really? The first thing I do when I get into a car is sit down in the seat. Didn't know I could put the seat belt on before I did that. 😛

Absolutely. So does the wife and kids.
They were in a wreck about 5 years ago. Someone blew a stop sign and my wife t-boned him. The car was masecrated but they only got banged up.
About two years ago I rolled my truck. It was an endo. I got busted up pretty good, but I'm sitting here because of my seatbelt.
My buddy's kid rolled his car last summer. No seatbelt. The car popped his head. He was 20.
When I was 18, my best friend crossed lanes and did a headon. No seatbelt. I was about a mile behind him and when I got there I pulled the door off the car. He was stuffed under the glove compartment. He was 18.

No, I seem to always forget when I get in my car. In fact, I haven't worn it once as a driver since I got my car probably 2 years ago. I have gotten in a couple close calls with accidents almost happening, but none so far. I think I'm pushing my luck. Never wear it as a passenger...probably should.

As the years pass, the manual seatbelts of older cars will phase out... and a higher percentage of occupants will wear seatbelts.

Question though - why aren't auto-seatbelts mandatory for new designs ? My dad's 2003 MPV didn't have them... I mean it's a minivan... safety first.

Yes, you should try it.

Always. And I've never even seen one of those "scare you" drivers ed movies. It just makes sense and I've been doing it so long it doesn't bother me to wear it. In fact it feels weird not to wear it.

ALWAYS. And I make sure the passengers are too if I'm driving. Hell, I make sure other drivers do too if I know them decently enough.
