I remember taking Calculus based Physics at the U of MN. I made it through with what should have been failing grades on all my exams. I did well on homework and lab assignments, that probably saved me. Most everyone else also did horrible on exams. Thankfully they were scored on a curve, so I made it through.

Since it's so late in the semester, you probably can't get your money back for the class. So just finish it up to the best of your ability and hope for passing. If you are really worried about how it will effect your GPA, then maybe dropping now will help. You should talk to an advisor about that though.

Also note that a lot of prof's care more about your final performance than what you got earlier in the course. A decent final exam score would usually get you a C even if you failed all your earlier exams.

I was in the same situation as you. Go talk to the professor, but really be prepared to work your ass off. I am sure if you ask for extra help outside of lecture time, he/she would be willing to assist you (unless he/she is a dick/bitch). When I took this physics class, I failed the first midterm, barely passed the second, and did about average at best on the homework. I studied as soon as I got back from classes until it was bedtime. I did this up to the day of the exam--I absolutely slaughtered it and walked away with a C+ in the class.

That's what I was going to say. A lot of professors will pass you if they see you continually improve over time on the exams. If you get a 35%, 50%, then a 75% on the final, it shows you're actually learning and since the material tends to get harder as class goes on, you're obviously working harder.

Plus, doing all the work and showing up to class every time makes a huge difference. Get to know the professor and ask questions in/after class. The professor knowing your name could be the difference between a C- and a C.

Just stick through it.....

You think that is bad, I got a D in emag. The only reason I got a D was because I always showed up to his office hours. If would have had not showed up, i would have got an F. Am I gonna take the class over? No way! It's the first class I ever got a below a C in, but I am just wanting to get out of school and start working now.

I don't see how you are going to get from a 30something to a 57 :p. Sticking with it is one thing, but being stupid and getting a D/F is another.
