I answered "yes" but now that I think about it... technically no. My first car was a hand me down from my mom (she got a new card, I got her old one), and after I destoryed that car (hit a mailbox, a tree, and rolled it) the insurance money paid for my next car. :D

She ranted and raved that she bought the truck for me, which she never told me and which I didn't start driving until my senior year in HS, and that I was an ungreatful little sh|t.

Even though I worked to put myself through private school, paid for gas, and insurance on the truck like it was my own. I took care of it, including all maintenance that I knew how to do on my own.

Parents can kiss my ass.

You ungrateful little st|t, you should be ashamed of yourself.

lol. I wish. the best I got was my dad sold me his functional 87 cutlass ciera (this was back in 99) with 250,000 miles for 500 bucks. One month later I had to pay 700 bucks to get the brakes done. Fscking whore.

Honestly, if parents can afford to thrown a couple grand in for a decent used car (~5 or 6 years old with less than 100k on it) it does a kid a whole lot of good. Some parents are under the mistaken impression that providing advantages for their children spoils them. *bah*

omg I had to drive my mom's old rusted out Chevy sedan with a "Manilow Magic" license plate on the front... I'm still scarred from the tauntings.

Got a 96 Accord LX coupe my junior year. They made me work and pay for insurance 1st year to teach me how expensive it is to actually own a car and to not take things for granted. Gave it back to my parents last year when my sister blew up her van, bought myself a 02 Accord SE coupe.

There isn't a "yes" and "I don't have my license yet" combo option.
Note that with my father and uncle, I wouldn't have gotten a new car no matter what :).
'76 Gremlin. If I ever get 10% of my health problems dealt with, I'll see about driving.

I was lucky, my parents got my beat up 84 Corolla. I was happy as heck. I worked at at the swapmeet and other odd jobs to pay for insurance. Then I later upgraded and bought off my parents 83 Celica. :D

Those were the days.

I have quite a storied past regarding me, cars, and driving. Basically, after the many times that I "stole" the family car(s), and being busted a few times by various authorities, including one time by the police for driving without a license (I was 15), I was grateful when my mom let me use her car to take my drivers license test at 17. I was moving out and she felt that I should have a license, should I be able to work hard enough to buy my own car.

Well, I did work hard. I bought myself a $250 beater '82 Plymouth Colt that experienced some sort of catastrophic manual transmission failure after about 2 weeks. Then, my dad eventually let me buy his '86 Dodge Omni for $550 ($150 down, four more monthly payments of $100 each).

In short, my parents did not buy me a car while I was in my teens. However, my mom did just give me her classic ?83 Volvo, after my beloved Civic was totaled by a left turning driver who made a big mistake, so I can?t say they never bought me a car in my life.

No. No one has ever bought me a car, I've always had a job since I've been old enough to drive so I've always bought my own cars.

My dad bought my step-mum's 1989 Vauxhall Nova 1.2 litre off her for me when I turned 17.

A year later I changed it for a 1991 Ford Escort 1.4. I'm now buying myself a Ford Anglia 105E (the "Harry Potter Car") in a week or so.

So I've had a car bought for me, but it wasn't new, but I was totally grateful for it, even though it only cost him a few hundred.

Sweet, I had an '82 GT those were great cars back when they were RWD. Lot of fun. Mine was poop brown so we called it Radagast the Brown Celica of Justice. I sold it to a buddy for $400 and the thing runs to this day.
