Ah, Feb 2003. I see you're still new here.

Ppl do this all the time. My theory is that a) they like to see their name on the board and b) they get stiff in the pants whenever that little counter goes up by one. Of course that's just my theory. :disgust:

Replace "Kobe" with some unknown's name and would you think the same thing? I doubt it...

Replace "Kobe" with some random very rich person and I'd still have the same doubts. Hell, if you were a woman with no morals (not saying the alleged victim is) and somehow managed to have sex with someone worth millions, wouldn't you try and go for the jackpot? People have become more and more opportunistic over the years (or so it appears to me).

Proof of sex means nothing except that sex did occur. There needs to be proof that she was unwilling. A man should not have to provide a signed document stating that a woman was consenting just to prove that sex at a particular time wasn't rape.

I hate rape and rapists just as much as the next person. I have two very very important people in my life that were raped when they were younger. I'm just not willing to take one side or the other without concrete proof that something illegal did or did not happen.

*EDIT* - I realize this is a criminal trial, but a criminal trial is a good stepping stone for a civil trial and pretty much mandatory for something like this. There'd be little chance of a successful civil trial if she didn't go for the criminal conviction first.

I voted undecided.

But if the accused was just some poor person then you wouldn't have any doubts?

Wow, finally. A rational poster. Everyone else is so quick to persecute someone. They want blood. Morons.

agreed...there will be no justice if it is in her home town JC
if my memory serves me correctly Kobe's defense team requested a Colorado jury.

Personally I would have less doubts unless some motive for the accuser to falsely accuse the accused was revealed. With no obvious motive I'd lean towards the side of the accuser in a rape case as an obvserver. As a jury member/judge I would try my best to have no opinion until facts were presented and I think I'm good at basing my decisions on logic rather than emotion.

I think in this case there are several obvious possible motives.

Everybody is saying that this is different because he is famous, and they draw the conclusion that everybody thinks famous people are asshole and arent nice at all. What if he is what almost everybody who know him claims he is. Seriosly what has he really done to piss anyone off before all this happened?

My theory. She raped him :p

I'm leaning towards probably, mostly based on hope.

amish

why do you hope?

Because I think Kobe's and a-hole.

Thats what I dont understand. Why do you think he is an a hole?

-Xionide

He's arrogant based upon watching him play and seeing his commercials.

IMO arrogance = a-hole

Also, if there is any shred of truth in this story he should have the book thrown at him. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior being a star or not. Being that he is a star, he's a total moron for even allowing himself to be anywhere near a situation like this.

So your morals about adultry automaticaly make him guilty in your eyes

-Xionide

No, but had he followed the vows he commited to he wouldn't be in this situation so he's guilty in that sense. This charge is what he gets for "slippin d*ck to a small town chick". Is he guilty of the charge?, how the hell could anyone possibly know? I'd lean towards yes because of how torn up the lady was, but I know chicks are dirty as hell these days. Let the courts decide.

I havent seen much of him but from what I have seen he shows more confidence then arrogance. It is easy to just label it as arrogance. Its easy to hate someone who has more money then you.

IMO arrogance = a-hole
but confidence = not a-hole

I havent seen her. She is like hiding or something. He at least adressed the public. All I have seen is her three little blonde bimbo friends saying "well like, uh. she wouldnt have sex with him and uh yeah um she was raped and uh stuff". Seriously. WHO ARE THESE MORONS?

Well the woman ran out the door screaming so that offers a little clue. Of course famous people are always a target to fraud like this. There is not much evidence in a Rape case, not unless the woman showed bodily injury afterwards. It's more about creditability and motive then anything else.

Let me know what makes you come to that conclusion? I'm curious

I currently stand on the side as having no idea of who is right or wrong.

And you base this on what evidence exactly? You don't like Kobe? The girl is hot? *sigh*

Just remember, someday you may be accused and someone that doesn't like the way you look or the way you present yourself will be in the jury and then they'll have "no doubt in my mind" that you're guilty.

undecided because i put nothing past no one.

having said that, i lean towards he didnt. look at kobe. what would he have to gain? hes got everything to lose. he has no history of doing things like this, he gives back to his community. sure hes cocky and confident, but most athletes are, and must be to achieve success. doesnt make him a rapist. its that way in most professions. he could have any woman he wants, for the most part. yes, he cheated on his wife, but again that does not a rapist make.

look at her. she obviously has some emotionaly instability. she tried to OD on some pills a few months back after a friend died and her boyfriend broke up with her. she also tried to get on american idol. both of these things throw up the "attention whore" flag to me. sure losing a friend is hard, but it happens a million times a day and people dont attempt suicide. she was all hot about him coming to colorado, and went to his room at 1:00am. hmmm only one reason i would go to someones room at 1 in the morning, and that would be to get some.

i think it was consensual, then he told her "ok see ya", she felt stupid and used, and now shes out to make him pay.

but as i said, im still undecided since i put nothing past no one.
