Poll: Can you pinpoint Afghanistan on a world map?

<< it's not gonna be there much longer...they should start making new maps >>

😕

Where is it going? Are they going to fill it with water and call it a lake from now on?

There are many ignorant users of these forums who couldn't find Canada on a world map, let alone a country on the other side of the world.

Yep, and my 11 year old & 9 year old daughters can locate it on the globe too.

It'll make a crappy parking lot with all those mountains.

I know exactly where Afghanistan is, but just where is Canada?

Well, given that I am very interested in our campaign I broke out a world atlas last night. Looked at all the middle eastern countries in relation to air-space and sea attack as well as NATO support.

Yes i can, but i don't see why it's a big deal that others might not be able to - it's not like we're planning to go on vacation there anytime soon after all. For most, they know it's there, so what's the big deal about being able to locate it? Does it somehow make you better or a more informed citizen to know cartography?

The Americans are often stereotyped as very ignorant in geography. If you look at the results of the poll in case of Afghanistan this stereotype obviously doesn't hold.

I certianly can locate it exactly now. As of a week ago, I had a very good idea of the general location, but probably not would be able to just go and point it out.

I sure can now though.

euromancer, most of the people will just say "yes" without thinking, but if you'd make them do it...

Aelus

🙂 Does anyone volunteer to make a little "Locate Afghanistan" flash app???

Same for me.

<< There was a congressman that didn't know that New Mexico wasn't part of Mexico. >>

Thats a double negative.

Yeah, but why does it matter? There are people in Africa who don't know the world exists out of their tribe...why do all the people here need to know where it is?

Furthermore, why are you all being so sassy about it?
