You left out that Texas belonged to Mexico and the white settlers moved in and declared a rogue independence.

But to answer the question, I've never lived in Texas, so I decline to comment. 🙂

This is about as worthwhile as an "I know you are but what am I?" argument.

Seriously, each state has pros and cons, and each individual is going to have his or her own opinion on the subject. There can be no "better" state. The best you can do is figure out which state is better at what, and even then there will be varying opinions.

For example, "which state is better for growing oranges?"

<Edit>If you want my personal preference, I can easily say that I wouldn't choose Texas. I lived there for a year (Arlington), and it just wasn't the state for me. The hot weather and pollution made me miserable.
 
I'm a Cali girl, and I pick NorCal over SoCal simply because it has less people, more hills, and more varied weather. Never been to Tejas (that's Tehas, for all you non Spanish speakers), so can't comment.
 
Beyond the overflow of Mexicans coming into Texas, this place is great. I still prefer something with hills and snow, but Texas is a damn cool place to live 😀
 
Only been to Amarillo, TX and L.A., CA of those city's 2 L.A. was definantly more cool, but there was also a big Auto-show going on in Pomona so that kinda tipped the scale's 😉
 
Don't mess with Texas. It's my home away from school, and as everyone knows "Everything is bigger and better in Texas."

part of Texas belonged to Mexico this is true until Mexico raised Taxes on Settlers and told them they could not marry Mexican Women.

And there were Many Texan-Mexicans that fought with the "white settlers" during the war.

You also left out the fact that the reason white settlers moved in was becase the MExican Army did not want to fight the Commanche and Apache Indians.

I will say this about Texans, they are either the nicest people you could meet or they are the crazest,there is no in between !!

As far as hardware goes I deal more with people in CA than in any other state.
