I started w/ ADSL from Ameritech (aka the Devil) in March 2000 and was fairly impressed with the speed improvement and availability of SyGating it to my other nodes in my house. But then my modem went on the fritz in late August and Ameritech gave me nearly a month of runaround (cancelling tech support orders, saying it was my fault, all the usual stuff). Finally the guy came out in September and just gave me a whole new Modem, software, NIC (that used PPoE rather than ATM, i was pleased) and everything was peachy again.
but i became dissatisfied w/ only 750kbps transfer rates and got Cable from Media One. to date, i'm quite pleased.
On a completely unrelated note, would anyone like to purchase a brand new ADSL modem? (j/k)
