POLL: BMW M3 vs. Corvette Z06

A little comparison:

Corvette
5.7 Liter, 385 hp V8
385 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm
MSRP: $40,000

M3
3.2 liter, 343 hp I-6
269 lb-ft @ 4900 rpm
MSRP: $46,000

On the track, I'd say at best the M3 can only equal the Z06. So the Z06 certainly has more edge in the performance category.
On the straight, the Z06 will eat the M3.

On the other hand, the M3 is built with more luxury into it. The interior of the Z06 just can't compete with the M3.

So, which one would you buy ?

Please take a note at the question. I don't want to hear Corvette or M3 bashing here. If you were in the market for such cars, which one would you buy?

Um, the MSRP on a Z06 is more like $52,000. $40,000 is a base Corvette

Out of the two, I'd have to say the M3 - the Z06 is a fvcking monster, but the M3 is sweeter

neither is the M3 .

M3 is close to 50+ grand

edit. It's not all about speed. The interior of an M3 is beautiful. You prolly won't have to worry about it falling apart years down the road.

The M3 won't even be close to the Z06 on the track or in a straight line.

That being said, i'd take the Z06, as there are tons of mods that can be done to make it a true monster.

I don't like either car that much, but if I had to choose, I'd take the M3 based on looks alone. The newer Corvettes just don't appeal to me looks-wise.

I was in the market for a 2 door sports car. Unfortunately, I got canned. But i might be working for an insurance company soon, so it may turn ok.

The M3 isn't all that fast of a car. Its luxurious, its sporty, and it has timeless elegance. But when the 400+ hp cars are playing, the m3 doesn't really keep up. The z06 is basically the entry-level high performance sports car thats civilized, easy to drive, and affordable. And as was previously mentioned, the m3 has no chance of staying with a z06 on track, straight line or otherwise. That said, ourt of those two, I'd eat ramen for a coupla months and save for a viper.

<---red 2003 M3 parked in near front of house right now. Not mine of course, but interesting to look at. Actually prefers to watch neighbor's daughter sunbathe in bikini, but thats another story.

M3 because you can easily drive it around like a regular car. Z06 is too... tracky. No space. M3 is luxurious.

No pics, it'll be too weird walking around with a camera. I suppose I could do a drive-by....nah...perhaps another time.

How about pics of the daughter ON the car, a la any cheesy hot rod magazine. 😀

I'd have to say the m3 but the Z06 is a hell of a lot of sports car for the money. IMO the LS1 is the best engine the Americans have ever produced.
