I don't like Star Craft. The entire game is just a contest of who can build the most stuff the fastest. :|
I argue differ. Combination of Strategies and understanding the use of units is the key
Ok, maybe not the entire game but perhaps 90% of it. The dude who wins almost ALWAYS is the dude who has the most units. I have seen hundreds if not 1,000 or more Star Craft games too, so this isn't just stuff I am pulling out of my butt.
watch some world class expert replays at theinclan.com. No offense but I bet you're not good at SC at all, let alone getting 1100+ ladder.

Yeah, I'm not good because I can't mine a billion of every resource and crank out mad units with my fingers flying accross the keyboard. World class play is always different than the play at the amateur level. That can be said for practically every game and sport. For instance look at the game of Chess. At the lower levels of Chess tactics are everything, practically every game is won or lost on tactics alone. At the world class level strategy becomes a MUCH bigger element. I am sure the same idea holds true for Star Craft. Sure you can point at the world class players of the game and say: "Look THEY use strategy!" but for the average gamer such as myself which the game is supposed to appeal to the game is not about strategy, it is about speed.
