I find it so interesting that people who are anti-religion cannot help themselves and have to post in threads like this one even though these threads are obviously not aimed at them.

Sometimes the anti-religion crowd is just as annoying as the evangelic crowd.

Is anti-religion is the new religion?

MotionMan

Its not that people are anti religious, its that religion is outdated to cavemen.

They couldnt explain what the big yellow orb was in the sky, so they thought it was some god like entity. This IS the foundation of all religions today.

Science has taught us, that the sun is gases and shit. (i dont know im not a scientist) Kinda makes religion seem somehow... a waste of time.

Religion maintained that Earth was the center of the universe and jumped up and down when proved otherwise.

Now again in the modern world, stem cell research could save millions of lives, but is held back by people in robes and beards jumping up and down.

I think i started another anti religion discussion.....

Sea Moose, the High Priestess of Anti-Religion.

LOL

MotionMan

omg did i just win an anti religion thread!!!??

Yes... although you did just become a woman...

Matthew 6:1, 16-18.

Yep, exactly why it would kind of ruin it to post if you are fasting, unless you are seeking only accolade from others.

Christ denounced hypocritical religion, and much of the world hated Him and His teachings for it (many still do).

Jews don't believe in the New Testament...

Really? I had no idea.

Next you are going to tell me atheists don't believe in God...

Well, we don't, but the point is that you should not expect others to behave according to YOUR beliefs.

It's your personal beliefs, keep them personal and all will be well, try to push them on others and one of these days you'll run into someone like me who will teach you not to do that.

Nice info, but unrelated to what I posted thus far. How am I "pushing" my beliefs?
Explaining what I believe, in a semi-religion-related thread, no less, is not pushing.
No where did I say I am expecting other people do behave according to my beliefs, I'm just posting what I believe to be the truth.

And what do you mean "teach me"? As in a class, a polite post, what?
I have no problem coming into a thread and hearing about others beliefs or non-belief and being civil. Do you? If so, don't come into the thread next time. Either way, it doesn't matter much to me.

No. I don't believe in such nonsense.

I could post some pictures of some people where it certainly would make sense.

sure, fatties should be starved. But that's not the same as ridiculous ceremonial fasts.
Because in the case of the former, it actually makes sense.

And fasting for things like medical tests is the other case where it makes sense. Also, it's a necessity, so it makes sense doubly so. :p

Fasting is detrimental to meaningful weight loss.

Both. Religion breeds stupidity.

Wrong, humanity breeds stupidity. Everyone knows this.

And humanity bred religion.

I fail to see how being vehemently against something as repulsive as religion is a bad thing.

This is a public forum open for anyone to reply. If MotionMan doesn't like someone bashing his (or any) religion, then don't post about it.

Or, you know, deal with it.

MotionMan, the more you reply to people who come in and simply state their opinion, the more they're going to reply back to you and vice versa. If you don't like someone else's opinion, either reply and prepare for them to reply back or simply don't reply in the first place.

I don't think I said I did not like it. I said I found it interesting. I also said I found the evangelic nature of some anti-religious people to be "annoying".

I am always open for a little lively debate, as long as it does not get personal and remains respectful of the fact that people have differing opinions regarding things.

Ironically, I am not all that religious. I just follow many of the religion's traditions and commandments.

I'd much rather listen to an anti-religious zealot ranting for an hour than answer the door for 5 minutes when those damn Mormons come around. :p
