Londo is 100%

Who's we, kimosabe?? You make it sound like those places are paradise. The stark reality is that they are free because the poliital/military/industrial umbrella of the USA provides the shade of peace and prosperity their children enjoy each and everyday. I don't think they should call us daddy, but I do think people should remember that the world has always been a dark, dangerous and unforgiving place to live.

America, and its emulators, are the best that's ever been and possibly the best that ever will be.

When people talk about how awesome other countries are, and yet still enjoy the prosperity provided by the USA and those that fought, endeavored and sacrificed against monarchy, fascism and communism to defend it, my emotional reaction is to wish them well as they stamp their visas, renounce there citizenship and put their allegiance where their mealy mouths are.

In the last 100 years, we have refined the constitution to include enfranchisement and rights expansion for for Women, people of color, gays, persons with special needs and put literally trillions of dollars toward programs to try and lift all of our citizens in equal measure to the majority. I'm not saying we've reached our full measure, but if you think Russia or Zimbabwe or Persia or Egypt or China or India or Guatemala or Burma etc are a better deal, then pack your bags, kiss your momma and get on a plane bitch.

Sounds like a Voice from 1933....

Yes. Other countries are free too, maybe more in some ways, but we have some pluses.

No other country (that I am aware of), for example, has the separation of church and state in their constitution in the way that the U.S. does.

Freedom of expression is typically not the same either. I can burn a Koran and YouTube it without going to jail, unlike in the UK.
BBM

I recall that pastor wanting to burn some Korans ... Even though he was free to do so theoretically, ... they quickly made him change his mind ....

Not sure now what happened first ... --- if they arrived to see him first .. or if he chit his pants first, and they arrived to see him a bit later ... or if he chit his pants right at the time of their arrival ... lol 😱

I am not in US ... So i better not ... 🙂

This explains A LOT. How do you know anything about freedom in the US if you do not live here? You're the same character who posted a gazillion times in the Trayvon Martin thread. Isn't there anything in YOUR country to talk about?

Yes, we have plenty of freedom here in the US of A ... but the wealthy have the most, they can choose where to live, were to go and what to do much more than the middle and lower classes. Pretty typical of the rich in just about any country.

Well, you can only talk about goat fucking for so long....

Hardly anything is happening here ... not interesting enough to talk about, possibly 😉))))

In Winnipeg here anyhow...
It's like asking someone to talk about something exciting in North Dakota somewhere (Fargo, Grand Forks etc).

Besides, Canada is like another (extra) state of USA basically ... or maybe it should just be one already.
If it wasn't for everyone who wants to being able to carry a weapon, I would not even mind maybe. 😉

Your mind is a stronger prison than words written on pieces of paper (laws). Physically, you can do whatever you please. Of course, if you choose to partake in certain freedoms, you may, or may not have to deal with certain consequences. 😉

This is an interesting question, but for anyone to answer it all would have to agree what freedom is.

I don't think the danger is whether the majority 'feels' free or not. The danger is that we confuse policy decisions and social/economic security with freedom.

That implies a government which places itself above the law. I think we already have that, and hence are not free.

Consider this historical recollection about a country in Europe :

"
...
Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We had 25 percent inflation and 25 percent bank loan interest rates.
...
We elected him by a landslide – 98 percent of the vote.
...
...like a miracle, we suddenly had law and order. Three or four weeks later, everyone was employed. The government made sure that a lot of work was created ...
...
... decided we should have equal rights for women. Before this, it was a custom that married ... women did not work outside the home.
...
...health care was socialized, free for everyone.
...
All day care and education were free.
...
Next came gun registration. People were getting injured by guns....
...
Not long afterwards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns.

"

So there you have it. Economic security. Women's rights. Gun control. Free healthcare. Free education. Free childcare. Sound familiar?

And where did this miracle happen?

Austria, 1938. The great leader was Adolph Hitler.

Never confuse peace and security for freedom.

I'll need a bigger crock to hold all this bullshit.....

\Ayn Rand - take me away.....

at times i feel as free as that crumbled 10 dollar bill in my jeans can make me, at other times i'm as free as the choices i make allow me to be

BS ...

In many many coutries there is as much Freedom as in US nowadays, if not more ...

Total Freedom .. - probably nowhere anyhow ..

Canada - probably more or less the same freedom like in US ...

but we are not totally free anyhow ..

But even take Russia nowadays .. - Communizm / Socializm is dead there long long ago ..

And i would not be surprised if they have there more freedom currently than here in Canada or in USA
I am sorry to piss on your parade but that is just not true at all!! Most countries are NOT as free as we are! No there is not as much freedom!!

public poll. he's an NSA spy! :sneaky::sneaky::sneaky::sneaky:

are we relatively free? yes

are we slowly losing that freedom? yes

Well if you like living in a Plutocracy then by all means we are free. Free to live by the rules and regulations set forth by the 1%. Our dear leaders. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/plutocracy

Jeez Americans are beyond stupid. Whatever mass media feeds you, we just sop it up like gravy and never question anything. Can't wait until the dollar crashes based on the flaws of the current Fiat Currency system.
