The latest generation of games such are starting to eat almost 400Mb of RAM now... plus you have to take into account of the win-XP overhead......currently, i have 4 I.E. Windows open and some back ground stuff open and W-XP is already eating 223 MB..
1 Gig would probably not make you get a higher frame rate. but it will decrease load times and also allow you to multitask in windows...
For gaming you can never have too much ram,so if you can afford it go for the 1GB,games will always demand more ram sooner or later, just like when we have to upgrade,it`s only a matter of time.
the gig would be nice, but it's gonna be tough letting the lv2 black mushkin go. 🙂
i'm sorta in the same boat, running 2x256 pc3200 lv2 black but i'm gonna hold out a while. i actually went from 1 gig to the mushkin 512lv2 since i could oc a little higher.
