Well I'd say there's a difference between "refusing to living near" and "hate". The real question is, though, how many Brits refuse to live near Indian/Pakistani neighbors, and how many Americans refuse living near a Mexican neighbor.

I tried looking these polls up, but failed. I'd say we need these to determine if Israel really is the state of Satan, or are the figures rather normal. At least we've already established (in the other thread) that 98% of the population hating another race is not very normal nor is it desirable in the 21st century.

I question the reliability of those polls.

"Center for the Struggle Against Racism" is a one-sided pro-Arab "rights" movement that tries to incite problems by victimizing the Arab population of Israel as if there is some collective campaign against them.

I know for a fact Arabs can live anywhere they want in Israel, and many - especially in cities like Tel Aviv, Haifa, etc...have mixed Arab/Jewish/Druze populations.

In general however demographics tend to stick with each other, and this isn't unique to Israel.

To say Israeli Jews are somehow racist against Arabs is absurd. Israel's relationship with Arabs is exclusively political. Jews are not racist against Ethiopians, Russians, Druze, Bediuns, etc...in spite of their minority status.

Come to think of it, racist incidents are much higher per capita in Europe and the United States.

Funny, isn't it?

I'd like to see pro-PLO trolls talk about Arab racism against Arabs.

Jews are the "chosen" people. There is little reason for them to hate anyone.

Americans live next door to Mexicans, daily. Brits and India/Pakistan, is their problem.

But America has a relatively healthy relationship with Mexico.

Isn't it dangerous for Jews to be around Arabs?
Jews will tell you of all their trials and tribulations, for their religion.

Arabs, have had trials and tribulations too

Islam, a relatively new religion, would like you to believe that IT's trials an tribulations are the strongest.

American's with their Democracy, now want you to believe their trials and tribulations were the hardest.

Mr Zorkorist, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

This is really an apples to oranges comparison. The Pew poll cited in the other thread is a straight up approval question. It asks directly, do you view Jews in a favorable or unfavorable light.

The poll you cite is asking questions far more specific than that. And I note you have grabbed the highest "negative" number to make your point. The fact is that many Israelis have heightened paranoia about the connection between Arabs and terrorism, and that might make them queazy about having an Arab live in their building. Some of those respondents I'm sure are racist. Others I'm sure are not.

The best comparison question in the poll you link is probably "is Arab culture inferior to Jewish culture" - which gets a 34% "yes" answer. Though even that isn't a perfect comparison.

Find a poll that asks the same straightforward approval question and you'll have a better "gotcha" counterpoint.

Half of Israeli Jews express fear or discomfort when hearing people speaking Arabic. Eighteen percent of Jews said they feel hate when hearing Arabic speakers.

I guess they're all P&N readers who read that 90% of Arabs hate Jews, or whatever it is.

Responding to the report, Hadash Chairman MK Mohammed Barakeh said racism against Israeli Arabs "is a direct result of official racist and discriminatory policies" dictated by the government.

Right. And you can blame official racist and discriminatory policies on official policies of targeting civilians.

Exactly. The Jewish population and Arab population have a unique relationship that is not based on race.

While Israeli Arabs enjoy more rights in Israel than anywhere else, they support parties like Balad that claim Israel is a fascist, genocidal apartheid bent on taking over the Middle East. Israeli Arab Knesset members have been caught contacting Hamas and Hezbollah representatives. Some have even called for Hezbollah rallies in the Knesset.

Imagine if a US congressman called for an Al-Qaeda and Taliban rally, LOL!

Some Jews also feel discriminated against because they have to serve 3 years in the military, while Arabs are exempt and can go straight to university. Arabs also have special subsidization programs, cheaper university tuition and tax-breaks that don't apply to other demographics.

This would be fine if the general Arab population did not resent the Jewish leadership, even though a Jewish leadership is technically more pro-Arab than any non-Jewish Arab state.

In syria, simply criticizing the government lands you in jail.

So it's upsetting for some Jews. Israeli Arabs can attack Jewish residence without consequence, but a Jew says something "controversial" and he is racist.

The IDF is so bad they ban Jews from entering the dome of the rock for 22 hours out of the day to prevent incitement from the Arabs. The very presence of Jews makes them go crazy.

Same deal in much of East Jerusalem, which is frequently closed off to Jews.

Israel is one of the most tolerant countries on the planet. The only state on Earth that tolerates calls for its destruction and dismantlement by citizens.

Look at USA and Europe after 9/11 and 7/7. Massive anti-Muslim discrimination. Thousands of anti-Muslim protests in Europe.

Zero in Israel.

Even during the Six Day War Israeli Arabs were protected.

Ya'll Jews can keep on this religious thing, you "chosen" people, but I am here to tell you that Religion is dead.

I'm happy to leavre you in your little red-sea part of the earth, and you and the islam's fight it out.

isn`t it just like most people to dwell on the negative instead of embracing the positive--
In fact i doubt the Op even read the article...

Sixty-eight percent of Israeli Jews would refuse to live in the same apartment building as an Israeli Arab, according to the results of an annual poll released Wednesday by the Center for the Struggle Against Racism.

The "Index of Racism Towards Arab Palestinian Citizens of the State of Israel," conducted by Geocartographia, revealed on 26 percent of Jews in Israel would agree to live with Arab neighbors in the same building.

Forty-six percent of Jews would refuse to allow an Arab to visit their home while 50 percent would welcome an Arab visitor. Forty-one percent of Jewish support the segregation of Jews and Arabs in places of recreation and 52 percent of such Jews would oppose such a move.

As was stated in a earlier thread--

This is coming from our own JS80--one of the most insipidly unfunny P&N racist bigots.

He doesn't even himself know why he's such an unfunny twat--the twat life-style is an existential thing for him. To twat, or not to twat?

And here assembles the ATOT Martyr Brigade. Somehow you'd root for racist Islamic neo-fascists all day long - the most discriminatory, segregatist, condescending group in existence - yet you go around on P&N calling people 'bigot' right and left. Where's Loonie Moonie to give you the mirror you're so lacking?

There you go again with the whole "Martyr Brigade" thing. Did you think of this gag yourself? It's a hit! You should really take your show on the road, boobie! I can get you booked for 3 weeks straight in Palm Beach!

I've never advocated racism nor "Islamic neo-fascism" (whatever you think that means--kind of like Marxist-Leninist Liberal Democratic Communist Progressive Fascism AMIRITE?).

I'm rather content in the fact that, even in the privacy of my own thoughts, I find intolerance of others based on race, color, or religion somewhat unpalatable and revolting to my own being. I do get a laugh out of a "racist" or otherwise unsavory joke now-and-then, but I'm an equal-opportunity offender in that regard, and I know where to draw the line for myself and others in my company. If my efforts to expose short-sightedness and hypocrisy among the cheer-leading crew lead you to believe that I do so for the sake of some baroque pro-Islamic, anti-Judaism agenda, then I suggest that you sit down and do some soul-searching of your own.

With time, perhaps you can get past this sort of approach to opposing views

IHateViruses, I wouldn't even bother. I thought he's a Muslim, that at least would have made it understandable why he's taking the side of the human-bombs. If he's a Christian, then he's just one of the deranged Rachel Correy types.

and engage your own critical thinking and what's left of your human compassion when approaching subjects where so many are unfortunately more often wrong than right.
