This is not "political correctness" but the application of psychological developmental theory.
You really don't get the term "political correctness"

But it's become such a handy term for the simple-minded.

In that case, you're a lazy, politically correct user of our language. ;)

See? Your simple-minded statement isn't politically correct, it's just lazy and simple-minded. :(

Otoh, re: This thread. I did a forum search for jejune thinking I might have been the only forum member ever to use it here. Couldn't find one use from me!

Turns out, there have only been three forum users ever to use it. You 3x, Chunkee 2x, and luvly, of all people, also 2x.

Otoh, the on-line rant generator employed it here 6x!

It's ironic. Studies have shown that this ideology does more harm to kids in the long run. It ill prepares them for the real world. If your boss said to you "we're demoting you because you're more productive than John, and that's not fair", how would you feel? Unfortunately, so many recent grads expect this. They expect it because they've been brought up to think the sun shines out their ass and that life's actions have no consequences. Was a good documentary on CBC about it.

So basically their asking the good players to not try as hard/play worse to make the other team feel better about themselves...

Thats not how things get done, we need competitiveness.. for example (a bad example) the cold war.... lots of stuff got done because of competition(not necessarily good stuff), but you didn't see Russia saying "Oh look, the USA has a smaller nuke than us... we should make ours defective to make them feel better"
