This is exactly what we don't need. Psychologists and sociologists trying to tell us how to live our lives. Don't they have anything better to do?
No, just some of them are idiots.
Some of them see a theory exists, and then either they, or the regular layman with no actual understanding, will see evidence of the theory in real life, and move to extinguish all evidence of said theory.
If the theory exists, and there is a cause and effect, it must be bad regardless of the end effect.
Unfortunately, it seems many people do not realize that it is a
good thing in many cases.
Not everyone can be a winner in life. It simply doesn't work that way. Some people who suffer from loss their whole life
needed that loss to turn around and end up doing great things in life. And it is needed to see that some youth who were winners their whole life, would end up becoming complete miserable failures because they learned nothing as they aged.
The reverse of that is more true than not, but it can how individuals react to a success and failure during competition is necessary to discover and to ultimately determine just how to craft individualized training for that person (parenting really is best at an individualized level, each kid is almost always different).
Ah, well that was my long way of saying, "I agree."

But then again, it is not so much about psychologists and sociologists being retarded, rather, the people who interpret the social and behavioral theories and make changes to "the system" often end up being beyond retarded with no real understanding of what they are doing.
This is why I
kind of want to go into the world of public policy making or the political/administrative world. I feel I have a far better understanding of human thought and behavior than most in that field.
