police-involved shooting in Kenosha, WI...unrest ensues

The video of the "second" is so big and clear, the context is really captured. It is self defense regardless of anything else that occurred. He was being chased down the street. He wanted to flee. When he could no longer flee, he shot those men, and only those men, who were assaulting him. It is so very clear cut.

If anything else transpired - it stands on its own merit whether it is criminal or not, and if he even did anything. Hopefully the police can investigate - but that may prove challenging amidst this chaos. With riots these "gun battles" will escalate both in frequency and number of men involved. That is how a cycle of violence plays out. With one shooting leading to another.

how can you continue to spew this bullshit? if you murder someone and then run, self defense is out the window.

17 yr-old Illinois resident Kyle Rittenhouse arrested for the shootings. And Trump says "TODAY, I will be sending federal law enforcement and the National Guard to Kenosha, WI to restore LAW and ORDER!”

Trump to deploy the national guard......... can he do that???

Evers already did, which probably complicates things for Trump. DHS is probably a tough sell for local authorities, like Portland. I wonder what they'll protect.

Law & Order? Ask Roger Stone.

Kenosha police really need to say something substantive about the Blake shooting, not just "don't rush to judgment." With the rioting on the streets and now these killings, if they have a valid explanation for the shooting they need to come out with it now.

It is, but based on the statistical interactions of police involved deaths. You could base it on all interactions, but that would be just as bad as per capita only. Blacks have been disproportionately involved in interactions over minor offenses than whites. When you tailor it down to violent crimes only though.. blacks commit those disproportionately in this country than any other demographic. Since most police involved deaths are responses to those types of crimes, it shows that whites are still killed more by police than blacks even with a narrowly defined encounter rate of only violent criminal action responses.
It is not even worth my time to say how wrong you are!!
You have been rebuffed and debunked over and over again, yet you continue on with your nonesense!
You obviously choose to be nescient on this subject!
you probably also believe that everybody regardless of race has the same opportunities to succeed in life......

Just heard that in Wisc. the local department doesn't do those investigations, it's being done by the State.

they can't at this point because the states DOJ is now in charge of the investigation. the chief did a good job of explaining that at the press conference that just ended.

So potential threat does matter?
If he had just shot someone, he was the potential threat, not the mob/crowd/gathering/couple of people. If he did not shoot someone, and they were simply being threatening to him, I have to begrudgingly agree that it might have been able to be considered self defense, however I'd posit that he placed himself well in harms way by doing what he was doing. Roughly akin to walking into a wolf den, having to shoot a dozen wolves with an MP5 to survive, then telling the game warden it was self defense. I'd still throw the book at him and wouldn't let him walk with a self defense claim.

You know.... with all of these recent shootings of blacks and minorities by police, I'm just wondering if this is something the cops (or some cops) are doing on purpose? If they have no respect for blacks and if police think (some police) that the black life has no value then just maybe these cops believe they can get away with this? That their true ALT-Right personality can come out into the open because Donald Trump will back them up. I actually expect that should Donald Trump get his second term, Trump will enact a blanket amnesty for all police force under investigation AND all ex-police that have been found guilty. Donald Trump will grant them all a reprieve and thus let the cops off the hook with immunity from any future legal action. Yep! That is what Trump plans to do, if reelected. Grant the bad cops amnesty, a full pardon, a reprieve and that would be that. Then.... the cops can be free to kill anyone they want, especially a minority person.

Someone has to, then. At the very least, after three days they have interviewed the officers involved and everyone at the scene. Officer has already given a written report and spoken to internal affairs.

They can't just leave this video which on the surface looks incriminating hanging out there while people riot. If there is a valid other side of this story, it needs to be told before even more lives are lost in the streets.

17 yr olds can own ARs in the US? Scary

In Wisconsin you'd find guns in most homes more often than not. Even Democrats here have a lot of guns, Even Tony Evers is a deer hunter. Of course most of the idiots here in Wisconsin fully agree with armed citizens being able to blast away at protestors.

1st degree murder in the first one. Felony murder on the second. Aggravated assault, attempted murder and a host of state and federal gun crimes.

He will rot in jail the rest of his life but will be held up as a martyr by the Right and White Nationalists.

The police that let him leave the scene without stopping him whiling seeing he was carrying a gun need fired ASAP. Just shows the racial bias of the cops in that city. Shots were fired. Police let a white male carrying a AR15 just waltz right by without stopping him. They blame it on the “chaos”. If he was a black guy I have no doubt he would have been shot and killed by police.

I have this sad feeling this will end up like the "affluenza" kid situation.

If there is any justice the book will be thrown at him and the cops involved. The last thing needed is more wannabe call of duty warriors thinking they are protecting America.

If there is any justice the book will be thrown at him and the cops involved. == There will be no justice! The cops will call it justified!
The last thing needed is more wannabe call of duty warriors thinking they are protecting America. --- huh???
yeah right!!

I doubt it will end up that way. He’s an out of state kid who committed multiple homicides and gun crimes in another state. The book will be thrown at him and the jurors will be harsh as well juries the tend to be harsh against out of state criminals.
