no because they likely did not know any of that when he was shot. That isn't relevant to the story? Again, this video was recorded mid-way through. Officers could have already run the guy's information and clearly seen his warrant and past incidents of resisting arrest. It also will tell them that he does carry a firearm. All relevant information that the cops may or may not have had at the time of the video.
they aren't paid to think, just follow orders, especially on patrol.Holy fuck! Stupid cops...just so infuriating that it still happens. You'd think maybe, just maybe, they fucking think for a bit before shooting. No defense of this.
Feel so bad for the father and his children.
Your argument is simple.Emotional is how I would describe the anti-reality mob that has formed here. Posters who apparently insist you can ignore guns drawn on you, ignore lawful commands, and then threaten the officers without consequence. Then turn the situation on its head and pretend the officers had zero justification for actions that are as common in law enforcement as is strapping a holster to their belt. Moving around all willy nilly and then reaching while guns are drawn on him, meant he was going to die.
And what is your counter claim, are you telling us that officers are not allowed to respond to threats?
I demonstrated a consistent policy of the suspect even flinching the wrong muscle and being shot for the threat that they posed based on the circumstances.
News says the national guard was summoned to Wisconsin.
Reminds me of the old 1911 I used to carry that only held 7 plus we only carried two extra clips in the ammo holder.Clip only holds 7![]()
Apparently children with darker skin pigmentations don't count.were there not kids in the car???
Whenever this shit happens we get every little detail about the victim to show that "he's no angel" and that he apparently deserves what he got. Just for balance I think we should see every complaint made against those three cops, every extra curricular jobs they do and all their social media posts. I mean if it's ok to do it to the victim then why shouldn't we do it to the professionals that get paid a lot of money for this?I don't know enough info here to give a good opinion on this incident. I will list out what I've been able to garner. Whether it is true or not time will tell. Here is what I have found out. Again I am not saying these are the facts yet. News seems to be very spotty on this one so far.
1) Jacob was at a scene of a fight of two girls trying to break them up.
2) Cops were called and arrived on scene after the fight had stopped but everyone still around.
3) They ran his plates and saw he had an arrest warrant out.
4) They went to grab Jacob to arrest for the warrant. Instead he shouldered past them and pushed them out of the way.
5) The cops tried to use a tazer on him, but he completely ignored the taser and pulled out a knife.
6) Jacob walks back to his vehicle with knife in hand before putting it back in his pocket. Cops already have guns drawn and are pulling on him trying to get him to comply.
7) Jacob gets to his car and leans in with one cop still pulling on his shirt. At this point that cop fires. He fires 3 times, there is a little movement, and then he fires 4 more times.
In the video it is hard to tell if Jacob is holding a knife and as always these videos start late into the incident. There is a point as he is rounding the car that it looks like something is flashing in his hand as he puts his hand near his pocket. I am not saying this is a knife or anything. Could be keys. I don't know. A few more notes about Jacob.
He was a registered sex offender. Had been sent to jail twice for assaulting police officers and drew a gun on one in the past. He had an arrest warrant on him but I am unable to find the details for what. Again these are what I've seen stated about his past and don't know how much of it is relevant to case even if true. If the cops ran his plates when they arrived on scene, they would more than likely know the details of his criminal past.
If what I have read is true then it is a tragic death, but all on Jacob. Again we still don't know all the details, so I am reserving judgement still.

Like clockwork.
Jacob Blake is paralyzed from the waist down

Do you know where you found this info?
I have no idea where Jacob grew up or lived prior to Kenosha, but his record in WI is pretty minimal, looked like a few cases of support claims for two of his children, a driving without license on his person, and an undetermined charge from July of 2020 that did not show charges because the case is still open or pending.
If he's a registered sex offender, I'm assuming it happened in another state.
EDIT: Just found this stated in this morning's updated article on AP:
"Online court records indicate Kenosha County prosecutors charged Blake on July 6 with sexual assault, trespassing and disorderly conduct in connection with domestic abuse. An arrest warrant was issued the following day."
In any case, I think it's obvious that a rap sheet doesn't excuse what happened here. I'm waiting for more detail on the interaction between Jacob and the officers.
All the more reason for transparency. There is often a chain of events that lead to an officer involved shooting, and video/audio evidence is essential as it allows the public to understand the circumstances leading to the shooting. If he was truly brandishing a knife and threatened to grab a weapon from his vehicle, that complicates things, but audio evidence only helps the police in having public trust. If the audio exists, they should release it ASAP.Yep. That same AP article states that Kenosha police don't have body cameras but do have body mics. That they were telling Jacob to put away his knife in the microphone recording. Another site stated that Jacob said to the cops he was going to get his gun as he was getting up and that statement was recorded on the mics. I only saw one reference to that statement that I saw reading various news sites about the incident this morning.
Here is the still image being claimed of showing the knife in his hand as he is walking around the vehicle.
Mike The Cop put out the info he received as well.

That there was a gun in the vehicle that Jacob was reaching into. That he threatened and waved the knife at the cops before threatening to shoot them with his gun. That his son was originally part of the fight that he went to "break up" but was doing it with a knife as he was threatening people fighting with his son. Also Mike claims that dispatch already knew Jacob was at the scene and had told officers prior to arrival Jacobs criminal past. Which makes that relevant to the scenario at hand.
Again, the info on this is sketchy at the moment. If those claims are true, as I said, then Jacob didn't make the smartest decisions in that scenario.

Having said that, our police need better training in nonlethal and deescalation techniques.

Can't tell what happened before. In perfect worlds they never let him back near the drivers side of the car. He should have been restrained in a manor compatible with life. He had kids in that car. A possible gun? Hindsight. But there has there has to be something in between sir, Sir, SIR and bang, bang, bang.
If I were trained and in that position I would never have let him drive away either. I just wish there were more options that don't included kids having to watch their father shot, yes, even when father does not comply. No amount of counseling, money, or time will ever make those kids trust the law the rest of their lives now. Every kid they meet and tell their story to will also walk away with a deep fear and probably even some hate directed at police. It is not surprising so many kids grow up not trusting authority. Poor role models in many cases and the only dealing their ever have with the police are negative. I don't see this ever getting better in the USA. It is not like this north of your borders where there are also police and also AA people and yes even some guns.
Yep, crusty as usual.Same old posters always coming in to do whatever they can to build up the victims as monsters. They don’t have any concrete information but they thought they would post what they heard anyway.
Sorry guy, I don’t care what kind of monster you think the victim was, I don’t want an obey or die type law enforcement in this country.
