Born, raised and have always lived in California.

These things are cyclical and I have seen them come and go.

You are all welcome to stay the fvck out of here, no matter how nice it looks during the Rose Bowl.

Yeah, I cringe when they call it the Golden State. It's been a 1/2 century since California was the land of opportunity. And the gold, well, it's been mined out long ago for the most part.

Lived in the Bay Area and loved it. Just too damn expensive.

Yeah, there's a Woody Guthrie song about this: You won't California so great if you don't have the Dough Re Me.

HELL NO. I was so pissed when I wasted time visiting there for a small vacation. From the moment I landed, I was pissed. I get mad thinking about the money wasted there.

Everything looks cheap, the atmosphere stinks, and honestly -- not to be racist -- every single store, restaurant and even the airport had 100% Mexican workers. I couldn't find a single Black, White or Asian worker ANYWHERE. The people were extremely nice, but still, it was awkward and made my Native NY'er ass feel pissed.

After visiting, I can understand why people are so upset about border control.

Do you always get so worked up over things you have absolutely zero control over? 😕

I've lived in SoCal for almost 20 years now after having grown up in upstate NY (also a native NY'er). I look at the diversity here as a strong point. It is a melting pot and I see living with people of other cultures as a learning experience and a privilege.

There are many many good people here. I have made life long friends here and I love CA. I'll never live anywhere else.

In Berkeley diversity is a way of life. Yes, it's a privilege. You come to realize that. I'd have to move to fully realize how much I'd miss it.

After being here for about 5 months, I find that Berkeley has a high concentration of self-centered twats. Moreso than anywhere else I've lived.

I chalk it up to the pedestrian crossing regulations. Absolute bat-shit insanity. The people here have been conditioned into this oblivious state of entitlement where they can just saunter out into the street and the world will stop for them. Extremely dangerous.

But not everyone is like that, it's a gorgeous place and I love it here 🙂

For most people, it all depends on your personality. Since there are so many different areas of California; politically, socio-economically, weather-wise, etc.; that there definitely is a place for everyone in California.

That being said - Don't come here.

Ding ding! Cali FTW. I grew up in Colorado for 14 years....but my heart is here in Cali now.

Although I never did leave CO sports teams - Bronocos, Avs, Rapids, and (regretfully) the Nuggets are still with me! Its just hard for me to get involved in any Cali sports teams

Grew up in California for 8 years... my heart is here in Colo.

Still root for 49ers and Warriors, still go there for work all the time (got back today), but probably wouldnt live there.

Would consider living in Washington or Oregon though

Been there, done that.

No frickin way. Never again.

Beautiful area, don't get me wrong... but that bit of good doesn't outweigh all of the bad.

Absolutely NO FUCKING WAY I'd want to live in Kahlee...oh hell...waitaminit...I DO live in Kahleeforneeya...
<dammit!> how the fuck did THAT happen? I KNEW I shoulda took a left toin at Albakoikie!

I always swore that I'd N-E-V-E-R go back to Kahleeforneeya....just a big granola bowl...full of fruits, nuts, and flakes.

I let a construction company that I'd worked for a couple of times talk me into coming here for a 6-8 week job.

In the middle of that job, my wife and kids, who had never been to Kahleeforneeya, came to visit...and they fell in love with it here.

"Does it snow here?" my kids asked. When I told them no, almost never, they replied, "Can we stay?"

That was in the summer of 1987...and we've been here ever since.

The place has it's good and bad, just like everywhere...and we've lived places that were worse in many ways...and of course, places that were a lot better in other ways.

Do I like the politics here? FUCK NO! And, on top of an overly-liberal state legislature, this muscle-bound moron the "good folks" of Kahleeforneeya voted into office has been a total disaster for the state...WAY worse than Gray Davis ever was.

/me shakes his head in amazement...
Snow is supposed to be a recreational activity, not a way of life.
