If buses can't go, school gets cancelled. No scramble at all. That's kind of the idea. Limit the traffic.
Nope, school bus cancelled but the school is open.

Just turned on the local weather. The weather chick came on, said "you're screwed", dropped the mike and walked off.
That's retarded.

yeah, that makes no sense.
school closings are generally determined on a district by district basis, and I think if any one bus route is inaccessible, then those schools within those routes will close. Or something like that.
I can't believe my parent's endangered my life like that for years making me wait for the school bus outside by myself!
How long does it take to get frostbite when the wind chill is negatives, e.g. -30?
Tomorrows high is foretasted to be 33ºF lower than the current temp. I have no clue what season I'm supposed to be in.

Well technically they're still "closed" in the sense that there wont be any classes. When I used to walk to school if there was a snow day I could get in the building and all the teachers and staff were there, but I did not have to stay, I'd have the choice to stay and go in the computer lab or something, or just go back home. Bus cancellations were the most awesome thing as a kid. Free day off! That's the only thing I miss about school, really... not having to go.
In college there were no snow days though. If by chance the city buses would get canceled (don't think that ever happens) it was your responsibility to find a way there and be to class on time. Same deal with work, there's no such thing as snow days. Hence why the teachers would still be in the school, they HAD to be there. When there's an ongoing storm it's up to you to get up earlier so you can get the car out of the driveway, shovel the snow bank if the plow passed, and get to work on time. Those mornings always suck. I'm already miserable enough getting up early, don't feel like getting up even earlier, and shoveling.
no, they have full school days, classes and everything. I don't think I have experienced a full school closed due to snow day yet.
Wow, that sucks! So parents have to drive their kids I guess?
I am in the 10 minute range and even a short bus stop walk can take 5 minutes therefore it is too dangerous for kids to be outside.

Bunch of wussies. We had to walk to school in -40, windchills in the -50s. (uphill both ways, too :awe
They never cancelled school once in all the years I went.
I'm in Connecticut and it feels like it's dropped at least 20* in the last hour or two. It was like spring around noontime and now it's back to the deep freeze already.
