I've been itching to get a HR monitor with GPS for a while. Yes I know its overkill, but I'm a data guy and love playing with more information (its my job :D)

Anyways, I found this guy online:

http://www.amazon.com/Polar-RS300X-H.../dp/B001W93YS8

I did some searching, and it seems okay, but the "battery dies and I pay 100 for a new one" seems to come up every once in a while. Oh,and the fact I'm going to spend another ~60 to get the SW to transfer data.

I'm okay with spending up to 200$. Is there anything else I should be really looking at? The more data the better (of course, for post processing...not live while I'm running). If I can get the data off more easily that is good as well...I'd prefer the HR bad as well as GPS capability, because I get more data to play with :)

do you plan to do any treadmill running? With the exception of a very few ANT+ enabled treadmills, the majority of gyms equipment will only give you HRM feedback with Polar straps. Well outside of grabbing the HRM handles. I use a Polar strap and when I'm at the gym I love always seeing my heart rate without me having to do anything. I have the Nike+ sportswatch, it might not have enough data for you, but it does just fine for me. I get speed, pace, calories burned, heart rate, distance & elevation readings. The Nike+ web site offers a ton of stats, but my idea of a ton might not be the same as yours.

I can't comment on the comfort of the Garmin strap as I've never used it. But when I put my Polar Wearlink on I honesty don't even feel/notice it after about 10 seconds.

Do you have one? Can you download data to something like tab delimited txt or CSV?

hmm looks like the garmin forums have that stuff nailed down. It'll be possible.

Costco should be happy you posted that for me ;) Thanks

And yes, i'm in a gym often :)

No problem. I bought the 405 CX at CostCo when that was the current model. It was replaced by the 410 I linked. At the time, CostCo was $75 cheaper than even Amazon. I love it. It just works. Great user interface for such a small device.

I also have the Garmin Forerunner 410. I export the runs and import them to SportTracks software.

bah watch came DOA. Ridiculous. :\ Also a little concerned that the battery life of the watch is suspect for some. Sigh the consumer industry...you can push shit and it doesn't matter because there are fools like me that want to buy something.

I hope my costco has them in stock and I can easily pick up another one tomorrow after work.
