Why are there certain celebrities, actors, especially, whose names I frequently forget?

It's as if those specific names just pop out of my head, as if they are stored in part of my brain that has a "bad sector" or something.

Today was at least the third-or-forth time over the last decade or so that I had to go to IMDB to remind myself of Alan Rickman's name ("that guy, very distinctive voice, plays baddies a lot, very famous, was the baddie in Die Hard, Sherriff of Nottingham, Harry Potter as well....no, not Christopher Walken, dammit, stupid brain, why do you keep dredging up that guy's name, he's a totally different guy...albeit with some similar characteristics...yes, brain, he does play vaguely similar roles, but he's NOT the same guy, stop producing that name").

It's also happened with...um, her, that woman, the one with a very posh accent who used to do comedy with Footlights...dammit it's happening _again_ [opens IMDB tab, looks up Kenneth Branagh and who he was married to]...Emma Thompson, that's the one, her.

I regularly find myself thinking of these people and being unable to dredge up their names, but it's always the same few specific people (another one is Richard E Grant, though I mentally-retrieved that one this time...oh and Daniel Craig I always find myself running through all the Craigs before I get to him...Craig David, Craig Charles...).

It's not like they are obscure, they were all in some pretty good movies. But their names just keep falling out of my brain somehow. If they weren't famous I wouldn't find myself being reminded of them and having to remember their names.

Well, I find out actor names by association too (that face was in that movie with so and so actor, search so and so actor name, look at the list of other actors and match the face to the name).

I don't think it's a serious problem. Just that my brain has other more important stuff that it needs to recall quickly so certain actor names don't make the cut. But yeah, it IS weird that sometimes I will remember the names of obscure actors but not more popular or successful actors.

I wonder if some names are just intrinsically unmemorable? It never happens with Arnold Schwarzenegger or Clint Eastwood or Al Pacino. Or even Christopher Walken himself. Maybe some names are just so generic that something goes wrong with the indexing system when stored in my brain? Seems especially prone to happen when both family name and given name are first names, like Daniel Craig.

Had my first real collaborative songwriting experience last night, it was cool. I've done lyrics with others before, but other than that I've always been the one writing the music, or playing music someone else wrote. Our drummer likes to do alternate lyrics for existing songs (a proud folk tradition), he brought in some lyrics for an original idea and told us what kind of vibe he wanted to go for (Tom Waits/Cowboy Junkies) as he doesn't play anything other than drums, bass player and guitarist got a groove going, and then I started singing the lyrics. Looking forward to finishing it, all we were really working on was the chorus (I tend to write choruses first anyway). Fortunately I recorded the whole session.
We also did an entirely impromptu old British punk style song after I made a comment about Ronald Reagan's grave being a gender neutral bathroom. It's probably like 45 seconds long and terrible but planning to release it as-is anyway, for shits and giggles.

Went to Lidl for the first time today. Pretty cool store. Very similar to aldi, but different enough that I'd like to integrate them into my shopping routine. Problem is there aren't any close enough to be a viable weekly trip. I combined it with a trip to ollies so it wasn't too wasteful, but it's still pretty far out of the way. Might stop by every month or two, and stockup on stuff I can't get elsewhere.

My partner still pines for Aldi, it was one of her main shopping spots. Maybe someday we'll get one out here.
I think the whole idea's great. No frills, and quality food. Aldi's my main store. The bulk of my stuff comes from aldi, and I get a bunch of fill-ins from GroceryOutlet, and a ~once a month trip to wegmans for premium groceries. One thing I really like with aldi and grocery outlet is the surprise factor. Things come and go, so it makes shopping more fun. OTOH, if they get something you really like, chances are it won't be around long term, but that's life. At least it's fun. I love grocery shopping :^D

Ollies gets some good stuff. You just have to be selective. I got BumbleBee pasta/tuna bowls. They aren't as good as WildPlanet, but they were less than half the price. Also got a couple cans of soup, some horehound candy, and a couple other food items I can't remember atm.

Grocery prices are up all over. Aldi's still cheaper. I can occasionally get better deals at GroceryOutlet, but that's distressed goods. It comes and goes, and may be short expiry. Can't really compare them to a first run store.
