I haven't heard much on Krampus, but I imagine the movies probably raised the Krampus profile a bit.

There is a local controversy over an interest in Krampus, an old German Christmas time tradition. There's an upcoming parade, and the Catholic Church weighed it on it. Because, you know, they stand on such high moral ground. There is a local news station (News 4 San Antonio) really stirring the pot, with several posts a day. Not sure if Krampus is becoming a big thing elsewhere?

On a related note, the 2015 Krampus movie is really good. Weta (from Lord of the Rings) did the effects for it. It's in my yearly rotation.

Almost 400ml of watermelon juice and some water and my thirst still isn't quenched. I have no idea what they put in the biryani I had for dinner

Must've been ajino effin' moto.

Every time I see harry, I shudder to think that @Red Squirrel will end up with a very cunning gold digger like Meghan.

Just brought firewood in, and Spot was curled up in her box. She's usually in there before the sun's down when it's cold. I feel bad for not giving her attention, but I don't want to her to lose the warm spot she created for some trivial pets that'll be over too soon, so I don't even acknowledge her. Don't want her to get excited, and leave the box.

Why didn't I put that button on the bottom instead of the front?

And why and I just thinking of that now, a month later?

She should have called them hosers. What kind of Canadian doesn't do that?
@DrMrLordX , Answer follows, in case you were left wondering:

She was an "imported" wife with Canadian citizenship, married to a guy who was into guys but didn't tell her that until their son was a few years old. He wanted her to remain his fake wife while he made love to men and wanted her to accept him as he was "for appearances" so he could have his cake and eat it too (avoid social stigma especially among his relatives and friends).

On top of this dilemma, the guy's father was creepy and spent way too much time with her just sitting near her or staring at her when his son was outside the house. She complained to her husband but he told her that he's lonely and just likes her very much. I don't remember if the old man ever touched her.

Anyway, both these things got to be too much for her so she got divorce and took her son with her and enrolled in an English teaching course, got her diploma and started teaching schoolchildren. I actually kinda really miss her. She knew how to make me laugh.

I thought this was kind of interesting. I was reading up on HL Mencken, and was checking out some of Baltimore on google maps. They show two different views for a building I worked on. This was a gay bar before it was taken down. The facade was saved to use in the new building...

Move a little bit up the road, and you warp forward in time, and see the new building I did...

There was cool stuff on that project. I'd have liked to have observed the complete excavation, and grabbed the artifacts as they were unearthed. I didn't see anything valuable, but there was a lot of cool old bits laying around, and many layers of history that were moved around and overlaid.

Side note, construction of this place caused the structural failure of the one next to it. This is the hole where the building used to be...

A shame. It was really cool inside, with a lot of interesting details. All the way upstairs there was an unused living quarters with an open hearth. Maybe that's where the servants stayed? Dunno when it was built. I'd guess mid 1800s. I don't believe the great Baltimore fire quite made it to this point.

Here's the failed building. There was a cat that sat in the window and watched things going on. I liked that cat.

Came up with a great idea for my headstone.

'On Xxx NN, NNNN this parasite was unleashed on the world. It was finally eradicated on Xxx NN, NNNN.'

TIL that the USA's governing body for what the rest of the world calls 'football' used to be called the "soccer association". Which, as the word "soccer" originated as a corruption/short-hand-name for "association football", and as such is derived from a corruption of the word "association", means it was in effect named the "association association".

I just got a notice that someone started following me on bandcamp, and I'm wondering how this is gonna fuck me over :^D

I don't do anything on bandcamp except buy music. I don't interact with anyone or anything otherwise. Dude's following >1k people, so I'm guessing it's a bot autofollowing for some reason. Shit's weird.

Chompin' at the bit.

I want my Chit!

Got like 10 or 15 items of stuff coming between now and Monday. For some reason, none of it is moving today. It's all in the same place it was early Tuesday. It should have moved after midnight this morning like it almost always does from the place it has been.

It's all interdependent, so I can't really do anything until I have it all.

Was going to post in the "what are you listening to" thread, but wanted to blather on about it for a bit and thought maybe that's not the place for it.

10cc were a strange band. They were from Stockport, for God's sake, yet every song they did seems to not only be in a different genre but sung in a different accent.

The early 70s has always been a complete blank for me, musically. Only started paying attention to music as an adolescent, which coincided with the arrival of punk in the late '70s, aka 'year zero', the mentality of that era being that nothing pre-Sex Pistols was worth listening to.
Very-belatedly started listening to things from the '60s and having to admit that some of it was 'quite good', but the period between the Beatles and the Pistols has always been a complete blank to me. But it seems there are a few things from that time that were 'quite good', "Rubber Bullets" being one of them - but why are they singing in American accents?

'Zon pricing is weird. Got this monitor arm for my new 24" monitor.

Paid $15 for it. Strong, capable, new, no defects. Identical to other listings for $30 or more. Why?

Dunno how you feel about prog rock, but have you heard early Genesis records yet? Worth checking out if you're a Peter Gabriel fan.
Could be they're singing with American accents because they learned rock and roll from Americans :p
