Hmm. Let's see about that Shady.
FX5800U faster than 9700P at 8 of 9 D3d benches w/o AA or AF
Ouch. That doesn't really back up what you say.
FX5800U faster than 9700P at 6 of 9 Open GL benches w/o AA/AF
So w/o AA/AF, the 5800U is faster at 14 of 18 benchmarks. That doesn't seem at all like a 9700 Pro is "faster". (kind of the opposite?)
The 9700Ps claim to fame has always been efficient AA/AF, so let's see how much "faster" it is!
WTF? The 5800U is STILL on top for 6/9 D3d 4X/8X benches!
Could Shady be wrong in his assumption the 9700Pro is "faster"? How about the three the 5800U lost? Well you wouldn't play UT2003 at 1600X12 4X8X, so that's kind of moot. The question is would a user be able to tell the difference between an average of 108fps and 126fps, or 75fps and 89fps? Perhaps, but I doubt it. Not exactly "blowing away" the 5800U.
The 9700Pro finally (barely) wins 6/9 in 4x/8X Open GL benches
With the possible exception of the RTCW 16X12, there's not a bench on this page you'd know the difference on.
What about Doom 3? That's going to be a popular game....
Ouch. The 5800U beats the 9800P 20-30% across the board?
2/3 at 4X/8X too
Now what the heck is going on here Shady?! You just told the world in general the 9700 Pro is a "faster" card than a 5800Ultra, and I just linked you to the 5800 Ultra beating the 9700P in 28/42 benchmarks. The 5800U won TWICE as many, and the ones the 9700P won weren't by much usually.
So I think I've made a decent case the 5800U offers comparable performance to a 9700Pro?
