How does it compare to XFX brand at buy.com or newegg.com. I am hoping that some of you who know about these cards would discuss how good this might be for a beginner in gaming.

They are good about RMA's. I asked for an RMA on a ti4600 that was dead and they replaced it no questions asked and it was recently.

Not a bad price. But you gotta pay tax and wait for a rebate. Another option would be to get a used 6800 (which is way better than 6600GT in 4xAA + AF mode) from FS forum, they usually go for about the same price - $220-240.

I have been very happy with my XFX 6800nu. No other card maker provides a dual DVI that I am aware of.

I just ordered an XFX 6600GT and their dual DVI was the main selling point.

This PNY is also dual DVI. I think the only big difference would be the clock. XFX (1000 MHz) has higher than PNY (900MHz).

It's better because it's in the price range. I recently bought a PNY 6800NU for $199 on sale at CompUSA, unlocked the extra pipelines and overclocked it a bit, and the card rocks compared to my old Radeon... Are you saying you can buy a used GT for ~$200?

get a used 6800 (which is way better than 6600GT in 4xAA + AF mode)

Yes, I would tend to avoid XFX cards also. Not really good overclocking imo, but i guess it was ymmv to start with.
If dual dvi is your in your list of wants/needs then go ahead.
I have to say XFX packaging is better than BFG except for that warranty part.

Learn to read. I didn't say it was better than 6800GT, I said it was better than 6600GT. And since the price is about the same, you might as well go for a used 6800. And for that matter as jvarszegi pointed out a 6800 at $220 is a much better value for the money than 6800Gt at $360.

So it takes a rebate to equal MSRP? Lol. Get back to me when they are $175.

Actually, it was a $70 IR and a $30 MIR, but who's counting. :)

yes, they did have it in store only - most stores in my area had it in stock for a few days - even up to thursday of that week (5 days after the sale started).

Either you're extremely lucky, or you live in a some godforsaken place. :D I went next day and they were all gone, checked the website, none of the stores near me had it...
