I used to live in San Diego, and have had many a drunken nights (and sometimes with accompanying mind altering substances) and have NEVER once mistaken the Mexican border with anything else, whether coming from, or going to, Mexico.

I'm calling shens as well.

I agree, the rights that border agents have is outrageous on both sides. there was an elderly american women that's been crossing over in north dakota for decades to play bingo. One day a border guard does some kind of test on a bottle of used engine oil that somebody put in her trunk when they changed her oil. It tests positive for drugs and shes stripped searched muliple times, held in jail for days etc. Idiots.

Likewise, if either of us were caught bringing weapons and ammo into Mexico we would do some time in Mexican prisons. Your point of view on their laws makes absolutely no difference when you're in their country. Isn't that the exact same thing we told the Mexicans not five months ago? That's where the hypocrisy comes in.

I for one am amazed at the shear vitriol by some people in here. I am disgusted by those that harp on our military and say just fuck him. If you want to act like that why don't you just move to Russia, China or Cuba. Honestly, you don't deserve the rights afforded to you by the Constitution and the men and woman who have fought and died for you to be here. I am just appalled.

I hope that the people in here that have said fuck this Marine end up in Mexico, thrown in a rat hole infested prison for ransom.
 
Mayne is a well known troll, ignore him. Everyone else is taking issue with the guy as an individual, him being a marine is not the point at all. Some of the people taking issue with him are also taking issue with people saying we should make a major diplomatic incident over this just because he's military. I hope I used small enough sentences.

Personally, I am saying fuck him because it sure looks like he did something really fucking stupid and obviously illegal. I don't care if he's a marine or the baby jesus, what he did could easily be interpreted as arms trafficking and the Mexicans have every right to hold him.

Are you going to say that he should be exempt because he's a soldier? That sure seems to be exactly what you're saying, and IMO that kind of talk is what's causing the most resistance to your pointless petition. Nobody should be above the law, least of all soldiers or others in positions of power.
 
No, as I write this I am watching an interview with him. He just made a mistake. He wasn't trafficking guns to Mexico. I highly doubt that. I don't care if it's a Marine or normal citizen. I have been watching a lot of coverage on this guy and the Mexicans have punched him in the gut and beat him. THAT is uncalled for.
 
BTW- This is the second time a Marine has been held in Mexico. And it's the second time the State dept. or the President didn't do anything.

I never wanted it to get to this directrion, but people want to have their voice heard. I don't buy him running guns into Mexico. Right there that is a dumb ass argument. He owned his shot gun since 18. If he wanted to sell them he could have sold them in the states. It just doesn't add up. He simply made a mistake; a wrong turn and it was night so he got himself in Mexico. Do people not make mistakes anymore? Vilifying him like this is just down right pathetic! Yep! I just wonder how many people here had a BBQ last Sunday? A freedom afforded to them buy a Marine like that held in Mexico. It's time we pay back the service. There is also a petition at whitehouse.gov, but why the fuck do we need a petition to get a response from the whitehouse? The President should be taking action without a petition.
