Please recommend some martial arts movies.

One thing I never really watched much of was martial arts films. I did see many Americanized martial arts films from the 80's when I was a kid, stuff like: The Best of the Best, Bloodsport, No Retreat, No Surrender, plus several of the old ninja films like American Ninja and some the Sho Kosugi stuff, but aside from that my exposure is pretty limited.

So can anyone recommend some good martial arts films for me? They can be domestic or foreign, I have no preference.

Thanks!

KT

Seen it! Not bad, but I liked Kung Fu Hustle more.

Edit: bah, too slow. 😀

What you need to watch--you need to watch you some Steven Seagal flicks, sir.

Hard to Kill, Marked for Death, Above the Law. in that order. ...then stop.

Also really liked The Perfect Weapon (Jeff Speakman?)

I grew up on those kind of movies (American Ninja) too. They are all horrible, as are most of these, but good fun.

Oh, ah...if you haven't seen Enter the Dragon, then, well, you have to watch that. There is no better martial arts flick, then or today.

Showdown in Little Tokyo

I'm pretty sure this was Brandon Lee's first "major" flick. It's about some detectives battling the Yakuza as they're trying to pervert the community on the Ice trade (anyone remember Ice? lol)

Lee, Dolph Lungren, Tia Carerre.
what's not to like?

OP are you looking for more CLASSIC Kung Fu?
More modern Wire-Fu type stuff?
Campy 80s schlock?

I love these all, but I can't recommend until you clarify 🙂

I've seen Under Siege, but I think that's the only Segal film I've ever watched.

I did see The perfect Weapon; good times! I think I watched Enter the Dragon when I was a kid, but I don;t really remember it. :hmm:

Dragon, the Bruce Lee Story.

Not just a kung fu movie, a fantastic movie all around

Really anything that is fun. Not a huge fan of the wire stuff, unless it is done sort of tongue-in-cheek. I did like Hero and...well I can't really think of any other wire-fu movies.

I think I have only seen Enter The Dragon and the Kill Bill films (watched the Kill Bills several times actually).

Thanks for this.
