Do you guys just suck it up and pay for exactly what you want? Or will you sacrifice if you find a good deal.

My delima - I have been researching NF4 boards and really like the MSI. The SLI board even has the Soundblaster on board, which is nice. Although I haven't decided if I want to get the SLI or non-SLI.

And then the AMD Tech Tour comes up. They are offering the 3200+ with the Asus A8N-E NF4 Ultra board with WinXP x64 for $250. I think this is a good deal, but...I really want the Venice, and nobody seems to know which rev. the 3200+ chips are. Also, the Asus board doesn't have firewire. I dont have a super need for this, but I do have a Sony Mini-DV camcorder, so I'd eventually have to buy a PCI 1394 card if I got the bundle.

So if this isn't too much OT, I'd love to hear your guy's experiences and decisions with this type of situation.

You are going to get slammed my friend. Hurry up & withdraw.

This is the wrong place for such questions. Try "Off Topic" Category or "I wanna" or "Brag & Moan" under this category!

I look at the differences...

in this case the difference is huge compare the the bundle you can get from the tour.

Find out how they can enforce their "not for resale" rules. and see if you can sell the mobo and the windows (if you already own a windows)

if you feel like you don't want to go through the problems.
I always pay more just to get what I want.

I hate when I get something else other then what I want, and get burned by it.
**Oh ye, you are in wrong forum**

Oops, sorry. Yeah, I thought I was in the Motherboards forum, but maybe even that was the wrong place.

Mods, please lock.

Amheck: You do realize that the MSI NF4 with soundblaster is ONLY on the diamond SLI model (K8N Diamond) which is like $300 right? Plus I dont think its availible in the USA.
IMHO, you are better off going with a $150 SLI mobo full of good features like the asus a8n-sli deluxe (which DOES include firewire, although firewire cards are like $10 if you get them on sale) and then spending $60 on an audigy 2 zs. It will still be far cheaper than the diamond MSI mobo.
BTW, watch out for the MSI sli (both normal sli and diamond sli versions). They REQUIRE a -5v volt line which many of the newest power supplies have been eliminating since its no longer required under the ATX 12v 2.0 specs.

BTW, I looked for a similar thread in mobos posted by you but didn't see one. I would have thought since this post was an error, that you would have reposted again in that forum. If you have, link me and I can post stuff there about this.

Here's the MSI I was looking at with the Soundblaster.

AFAIK, All of the MSI SLI boards have it.

No, I haven't posted to the MB forum yet or anything. I guess I should probalby take it to OT anyway. As far as the PSU, the OCZ Modstreams have the -5V and the 24pin power which work with the MSI's and they are as low as $75. Not too bad.

Thanks for the reply.
