You are only allowed to work a max of 10 hours a week as a law student. Kinda makes that one difficult.

My credit cards have a balance of $300 on them, my only "real" debt is my car and my student loans from last year.

Who'd you apply with?

I say...apply somewhere else...if you can.

Hmmm... interesting thought. See how lucrative being a law student can be.

Why the hell do you have a new car?

If you need to take out student loans, you should not drive a new car. Period.

You haven't even heard about his situation....

He's posted how many threads about his brand new 3? (just like every other purchase he makes I might add) What more do we need to know?

Nice car, bad timing.

Explain to me a situation in which someone NEEDS private student loans to afford to go to college, and yet are unable to buy a used car.

What haven't we heard? He has a new car, and he was denied for a student loan because he has too much debt. What more do you need to know to determine that buying a new car was not a good idea?

Hmm...

1. Get rid of apartment, live in car.
2. Get rid of job, use car as taxi to make money.
3. Get rid of college, so you don't have to take out any more loans.
4. ...
5. Profit!

Interesting, my credit score is currently 702. It had been up around 760's before i started school but with the new loans its gone down...

BUT, the little tidbit of why i think i was denied...

#1. New Car (last month)
#2. Mortgage (last fall)
#3. My dad added my name to one of his credit cards (so that i could charge some stuff at home depot that i needed), but his limit was over 25k....
#4. 30k in student loan debt i didnt have last year

#3 shouldn't have any impact as it doesn't affect your debt/income ratio (assuming he doesn't carry a balance). Also are you sure you aren't just an authorized user? It could affect your credit score, but since they specifically said debt/income it probably didn't hurt your loan if you were actually added.
